Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

+ You will assess, reassess, develop, and implement the Infection Control/Employee Health Plan in accordance with regulatory agencies and all federal and state requirements.

+ You will assess employees and their environment for injury, illness, and risk then implement appropriate safety precautions and follow up procedures.

+ You will assess patients for risk of transmission or exposure to infection and you will implement appropriate safety precautions and follow up procedures. Utilizing and integrating all available pertinent data in developing Infection Control/Employee Health Plan you will help meets the needs of all customers.

+ You will interpret data to determine when patients or employees are at acute risk for infection and takes appropriate measures including notifying physician and/or Department Director.

+ You will prioritize patient/health care worker’s needs based on assessment/reassessment findings relating to the prevention or spread of disease.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Medical Tech in this state. Candidates with a Master's in Public Health are not required to be licensed.

+ RN diploma or Associates Degree Nursing or Medical Technology required, or Master's in Public Health or Epidemiology preferred

+ Two years previous experience in Infection Prevention preferred, OR 3-5 years clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse or medical technologist in Microbiology, Public Health or epidemiology

+ BLS through the American Heart Association

+ CIC - Certified Infection Control preferred at time of hire; required to obtain Certification in Infection Control within 2 years grace period of hire date.

+ Organizational, critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions. Proficiency with Microsoft word and excel.

What qualifications you will need:

+ (CIC) Certified in Infection Control must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date

+ Masters Degree, or Associate Degree
