Job Description

Seeking a Sr. Level Python Developer with 8+ years of experience. The team is currently made up of Java developers, so this individual will be guiding the team to build new models/assist with existing modules and building pandas libraries. This person will be building data and gathering data from different sources, massaging the data, responsible for regulatory and risk reporting. The data acquisition has a lot of python processes as well as developing new data distribution processes in python. A strong background within data management and data profiling is necessary. Building data architecture and identifying gaps, problems, and trends. In addition, this person will come from an application development background, not data engineering. This person is required to sit in Charlotte, NC, 3 days a week.

This job is responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution aligned to the enterprise architecture strategy, technology, and platform choices. Key responsibilities include describing the solution intent/associated operating environment, evaluating system impacts, determining the primary systems/sub-systems and their interfaces, and assisting with end-to-end solution design. Job expectations include defining non-functional requirements/architectural runway to support new epics/features and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose by working with stakeholders and service providers.

Skills and Requirements

8+ years of Python experience (SME) - several modules written in Python (will help current developers build new models/assist with existing modules)

Strong experience working with Big Data technologies such Hadoop, Hive, Spark, HBase, Impala, Pig, Kafka, NiFi etc.

Strong experience working with SQL

Hands-on development experience using functional programming constructs utilizing languages like Python and Scala.

Familiarity with the pythonic eco-system (Pandas, Jupyter notepad etc.)

Extensive experience designing and implementing complex solutions for distributed systems

Working knowledge of Cloudera or Hortonworks technology stack

Expertise in performance profiling, ability to identify performance improvements and memory optimizations

Strong coding, debugging, and analytical skills

Strong problem-solving and communication skills; enjoys a collaborative environment

Flexible, self-starter & independent, fast-learner; willing and able to quickly learn new technologies and skills; desire to understand not only what to do but also why

Experience CI/CD automation using tools such as Jenkins/Ansible

Experience implementing SDM automation using tools such as Git/Jenkins/Ansible

Hit the ground running

Soft skill wise good communication skills

Collaborative / team player BOA Experience

Experience working with big data and eco system, specifically Hadoop (e.g. Hive, pySpark, HBase, Sqoop, Impala, Kafka, Flume, Oozie, MapReduce, S3 etc.)

Experience working with database systems (e.g. Exadata, NoSQL, Cassandra, Neo4j, etc.)

Familiarity with Capital Markets and Regulatory Reporting business domain null
