    Description

    We are looking for a talented AWS experienced Cloud System Engineer that is passionate about building cloud platforms with focus on infrastructure and storage management (EBS, EFS, SGW, local zones, AWS backups etc.,). Perhaps you have a bit of development experience?     Key job responsibilities

     

    - Design and implement cloud infrastructure and storage solutions that meet high availability, performance, and security requirements

     

    - Lead infrastructure migration projects from on-premises to cloud environments

     

    - Create and optimize storage and backup maintenance and operational procedures

     

    - Develop automation solutions for storage and backup operations and monitoring

     

    - Provide technical leadership in cloud infrastructure, storage and backup architecture and best practices

     

    - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response

     

    - Mentor team members on cloud database technologies and practices

     

    - A forward-looking attitude that keeps you aware of the latest in infrastructure and storage.

     

    A day in the life

     

    - Enable app teams in their cloud migration journey

     

    - Build infrastructure, storage backup enablers/solutions in AWS to enable app teams to build and deliver solutions in AWS

     

    - Participate in Sprint ceremonies and clearly communicate status, blockers to stakeholders

     

    - Collaborate with partnering teams to identify opportunities to automate infrastructure/storage solutions

    About the team

    The Infrastructure Engineering team is part of the Amazon World Wide Grocery Stores. We are a team for the infrastructure engineers, with varied skills on Database management, storage, backup, and compute at the Whole Foods Market (WFM). We ensure WFM teams a successful in their on prem responsibilities, migrations to AWS. We enable app teams to build and deliver cloud solutions.

    Basic Qualifications

    - 5+ years of systems engineering or equivalent experience

     

    - Deep technical knowledge of data engineering tech stacks, such as infrastructure, backups, infrastructure pipelines, CFT, CDK, NoSQL, transformations, etc.

     

    - Experience in migrating from on-prem to cloud or running in a hybrid cloud environment

     

    - AWS Associate Level certification(s)

     

    - Can solve significantly complex systems engineering problems; able to deconstruct these into simple solutions

     

    - Excellent diagnostician: anticipates and mitigates patterns that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of systems to drive automation that simplifies workloads that scale operations.

     

    - Proven ability to educate others on maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, and infrastructure of team systems.

     

    - Proficient in a broad range of technologies (hardware, software, networking, operating systems) and how they interact with one another in complex systems.

     

    - Ability to self direct and split your time between design, architecture, and critical operations based on where you will have the greatest impact

     

    - Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)

     

    - Strong understanding of system security and data protection requirements

    Preferred Qualifications

    - AWS Professional Level Certification(s), or Specialty certification(s)

     

    - Knowledge of AWS migration software and technologies (MGN, DMS, SCT)

     

    - Deep knowledge of AWS infrastructure, storage and backups services

     

    - Experience with software development methodologies and programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#

     

    - Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence others internally and externally

     

    - Attention to details, proactive self-starter

     

    - You are a trusted part of the technical leadership of an organization

     

    - Track record of driving operational excellence initiatives

     

    - Experience with performance tuning and optimization of database systems
