    Description

    The Customer Service Security (CS-Sec) team is currently hiring for a Software Development Manager to lead our Threat Engineering (TE) team.

     

    Threat Engineering (TE), in Customer Service Security (CS Sec) group, is responsible for automating detection of security threats in Amazon's global contact center network. Among other things, we build monitoring systems that collect data at scale, and use machine learning (ML) to detect adversarial action in our systems. CSSec TE team consist mix of Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Software Development Engineers led by leadership team of Product Managers and Technical Project Manager.

     

    Amazon's Customer Service Security is the first line of defense protecting Customers and their interests from technical & malicious adversaries, seeking to steal their data and/or cause them harm. Security issues at this scale and speed require a passion for engineering robust solutions to complex security challenges, as well as the ability to quickly design and build solutions to address them.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    - You will partner with product managers, project managers, stakeholders.

     

    - You will define, build and ship solutions that improve Amazon’s security posture.

     

    - You will manage diverse team consisting Software Development Engineers (SDE), Data Engineers (DE), Security Engineers (SecEng) and Data Scientists (DS).

     

    - You establish structures that enable your team to solve complex problems and deliver impactful software systems.

     

    - You know when it is appropriate to alter your team structure to address emerging priorities.

     

    - You assess for skills needed to meet current and future goals for teams that you lead.

     

    - You are responsible for team-wide and/or product-wide architectural, component, and feature decisions.

     

    - You partner with your stakeholders, your engineers, and other teams on what projects move forward and in what priority order.

     

    - You provide the larger picture, the long-term perspective, and the context (past, current, and future) behind business and technology choices.

     

    - You own the team's charter, vision, tenets, and roadmaps to drive and communicate the team's decisions.

     

    - You communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences within your organization and established business partners.

     

    - You are able to write narratives, PR/FAQs, and/or other strategic documents for these audiences

    Basic Qualifications

    - 7+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

     

    - 7+ years of engineering experience

     

    - 3+ years of engineering team management experience

     

    - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

     

    - Experience partnering with product or program management teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

     

    - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
