Job Description
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for a/an Associate/Full Professor of Brass - Director of Mariachi to begin Fall 2025.

This is a tenured faculty position with reduced teaching load to direct the mariachi program. Primary duties will include teaching brass, advising students, directing TAMIU Mariachi Internacional, and providing service to the department, college and university. Duties also include recruiting students and actively promoting the mariachi program in the community and on a national level at festivals and competitions. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The College of Arts & Sciences is the largest and more comprehensive college at the university, The Department of Fine and Performing Arts has thriving programs in Art, Dance, Music, and Theater.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Musical Arts, specialization in Brass and scholarly/creative works commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor. ABD's will not be considered. Evidence of teaching excellence is also required. We strongly encourage candidates with significant experience in establishing and supporting a mariachi program with excellence in performance and artistry to apply.

Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
