    Senior Machinist

     

    Compensation Range: Up to $45 per hour based on skillset/experience.

     

    Work Schedule: Flexible shifts. 1st shift options available - choose between four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts. 2nd shift or weekend shift includes shift differential premium.

    Nidec Press & Automation is currently seeking a Senior Machinist for our Minster, Ohio location. This is a Senior Machinist non-union position. Senior Machinists for Nidec Minster will work in an engineered-to-order "job shop" environment where our products are made one at a time requiring many setups and holding close tolerances.

    Senior Machinist Job Responsibilities:

    + Set up and operate CNC machinery to manufacture large-scale components (up to 50 tons) with a high degree of precision.

    + Perform machine setups, tool setting, loading, and unloading of fixtures.

    + Perform preventive maintenance and follow/enforce maintenance plans to ensure machines are operating in good condition.

    + Translate engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for manufacturing.

    + Define and document job setups based on part families, size, fixtures, and required precision.

    + Perform in-process and final workpiece measurements/inspections to verify parts meet all required specifications using precision measurement instruments (mics, calipers, bore Gauges, etc.)

    + Create and update NC program databases and documentation to reflect process improvements and revisions from Engineering drawings.

    + Act as a technical expert in troubleshooting and resolving machining and/or equipment problems, as required.

    + Assist and/or lead projects in both the development and implementation of new machining processes.

    + Mentor junior machinists in NC programming techniques, best practices, and machine setup procedures.

    + Evaluate current machining processes and make recommendations for improvements in process flow, productivity, and quality.

    + Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other reporting tools to determine production requirements.

    + Perform precise alignments and fixturing of large components to ensure dimensional accuracy and repeatability.

    + Coordinate with engineers and production teams to determine optimal tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies

    + Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and crane operators to coordinate safe and efficient movement of heavy parts throughout the machining process.

    + Adhere to strict safety protocols for lifting and machining operations involving high-mass components and rotating equipment.

    + Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Senior Machinist Qualifications:

    + Specialized training in CNC machining with a minimum of 10 years' experience.

    + Demonstrated ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, maintain tight tolerances, and perform work with exceptional attention to detail.

    + Proficiently create, develop, edit, and optimize NC programs for machining operations using G-code and CAM software to meet tight tolerances and efficiency goals.

    + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

    + Ability to ensure that the Program Validation process is followed and adhered to by others.

    + Flexibility to work and/or provide support in training machinists on multiple shifts, as required.

    + Interpret complex blueprints and work instructions to plan machining operations for large castings, weldments, and forgings.

    + Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

    + Extremely limited domestic and/or international travel may be required.
