    Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to oversee payroll processing and benefits administration for our organization in Newark, New Jersey. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, benefits programs, and accounting principles to ensure accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will effectively manage employee records, benefits enrollments, and payroll timelines.

    Responsibilities:

    • Process biweekly payroll for approximately 70 employees, ensuring accuracy in hourly time card reviews and compliance with pay policies.

    • Administer benefits programs including group health, life insurance, dental, vision, and employee assistance plans.

    • Manage 401(k) contributions and matching, as well as deductions for employees working varied schedules (e.g., 10-month vs. 12-month contracts).

    • Coordinate open enrollment periods for health benefits in May and dental/vision benefits in November.

    • Utilize payroll and accounting systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, or related platforms to maintain accurate records.

    • Prepare journal entries and perform bookkeeping duties to support general accounting functions.

    • Audit payroll and benefits data to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies.

    • Provide support for employee inquiries related to payroll discrepancies or benefits enrollment.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to improve payroll and benefits processes and resolve any system-related issues.

    • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive employee information. Requirements • Proven experience in payroll processing and benefits administration for mid-sized organizations.

    • Proficiency in accounting software systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar platforms.

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including journal entries and accounts payable.

    • Familiarity with managing 401(k) plans and employee benefits programs, including open enrollment coordination.

    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to audit payroll and benefits data for accuracy.

    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple timelines and ensure deadlines are met.

    • Effective communication skills to address employee inquiries and collaborate with internal teams.

    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive data securely.
