Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee critical accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger management, and job cost accounting. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in analyzing project costs, enhancing financial processes, and providing valuable insights to support business objectives. Based in Santa Barbara, California, this position requires a detail-oriented individual with expertise in job costing methodologies and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments and collections.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, including the preparation of reconciliations and financial schedules.
• Update and maintain rolling forecasts and commission schedules to support financial planning.
• Oversee job cost accounting systems, ensuring project costs are accurately recorded and allocated.
• Analyze project costs and variances, preparing detailed reports to aid decision-making.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, track discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and tax regulations, including sales tax computation and reconciliation.
• Provide regular financial reports and insights to management to inform strategic decisions.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a focus on job costing or project accounting.
• In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage or NetSuite, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Familiarity with financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and deliver actionable insights.
