Description We are looking for a dedicated Tax Director/Manager to lead strategic planning and operations for the Travel, Entertainment, and Miscellaneous Reimbursements team, as well as the Tax Services team, within our organization. This role requires a strong leader to collaborate with key stakeholders and ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies. The position is based in Santa Barbara, California, and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact across various financial and tax-related functions.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and oversee the operations of travel, entertainment, and relocation reimbursements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Manage accounts payable processes and tax compliance services to support organizational objectives.
• Serve as the primary functional owner for systems related to travel, reimbursement, and tax treaty verification.
• Develop and implement controls to ensure adherence to federal, state, and system-wide regulations.
• Collaborate with the Controller, Associate Controller, and other team members to advance strategic goals.
• Represent the organization in system-wide and campus-wide meetings, providing expert input and leadership.
• Identify and address areas of potential error that could impact the unit or organization as a whole.
• Ensure the effective documentation and reporting of financial operations to maintain transparency and compliance.
• Provide guidance and support to staff on compliance matters and corporate tax policies.
• Monitor and evaluate system performance, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency. Requirements • Extensive experience with corporate tax compliance and related processes.
• Proficiency in using compliance software and tools for financial management.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing tax and reimbursement.
• Expertise in disbursement processes and accounts payable operations.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
• Exceptional communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to implement effective controls.
• Proven track record of managing complex financial systems and ensuring policy compliance.
