Description
A leading financial services organization is seeking a qualified Collections Specialist to join our team in Minnetonka, MN. This is a long-term contract position offering flexibility to work on-site three days a week or remotely, with the expectation that candidates will be local and available for occasional on-site needs. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing delinquent accounts and resolving complex collections issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
+ Effectively manage an assigned portfolio of delinquent commercial accounts (30–89 days past due) to minimize financial exposure.
+ Conduct outbound collection calls and written communications to engage customers and pursue resolution.
+ Perform detailed reconciliation of payment histories and billing records, particularly for complex lease and loan transactions.
+ Analyze credit reports (consumer and commercial) and payment behavior to recommend appropriate courses of action, including repayment arrangements, loan modifications, default proceedings, or repossession.
+ Collaborate with program partners, dealers, and other servicing entities to resolve account discrepancies and assist with account maintenance.
+ Support due diligence and special projects, including capital market transactions and indirect portfolio activities.
+ Monitor and determine the appropriate timing and process for escalation to late-stage collections or the Financial Recovery group.
Requirements
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
Experience:
+ 3–7 years of experience in commercial or consumer collections, with a proven ability to manage complex accounts.
Required Skills:
+ Experience with B2B collections, including the ability to manage communications and negotiations with business entities.
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
+ Sound decision-making capabilities and professional judgment.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard business applications.
