This position is based preferably from upstate New York in proximity to an airport, or New York City/Long Island. Hybrid work from certain states may be permitted in accordance with Astellas’ Responsible Flexibility Guidelines. Candidates interested in hybrid work are encouraged to apply.
Purpose:
This individual contributor role will engage with retina specialists and their relevant staff members and serve as the account team subject matter expert for compliant access and reimbursement topics with expertise in payer coverage, buy-and-bill, and Utilization Management criteria (i.e. Prior Authorization, Step Edits, other forms of precertification). This individual will also play a critical role in educating customers on company programs that support patient access and provider reimbursement. The role requires establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal partners (including Sales and Market Access teams) and external customers including (Retina Specialists, HCP prescribers, key administrative staff, and practices administrators) to ensure Astellas Pharma Support Solutions’ range of programs and offerings are appropriately utilized to support patients prescribed/administered Astellas products.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
+ Educates HCP/office staff about company programs that support patient access and provider reimbursement and industry related policies impacting access/affordability, etc.
-Provides education on billing/coding and reimbursement (for buy-and-bill products).
+ Assists offices with patient specific access related challenges and liaises with the PSP/HUB in a HIPAA-compliant manner.
+ Demonstrate compliant and high standards of performance as it relates to serving as account/customer lead focused on topics related to patient access to and affordability of Astellas prescribed/administered products.
+ Develop relationships with key office staff at key accounts to improve patient access and affordability and achieve defined customer engagement metrics.
-Raise awareness of Astellas Pharma Support Solutions and effectively communicate value proposition at appropriate levels within accounts.
+ Establish cross-functional partnership with internal Astellas teams (Sales and Market Access) to create and regularly update Account Business Plans and service the needs of customers:
-Advance strategic customer relationships towards true partnership at key accounts.
-Identify accounts in need of access and reimbursement education and support.
-Triage customer needs/questions and exchange insights (where appropriate) regarding real-time market access dynamics, and patient access needs.
+ Proactively identify training needs related to patient access, reimbursement and affordability for internal customers/partners and assists in delivery of appropriate education.
+ Maintain awareness of the evolving legal, regulatory and compliance environment to ensure ability to conduct business in accordance with Astellas Legal/Compliance guidance and policies.
+ Raise awareness of customer access and affordability issues and imperatives to leadership and effectively communicate support (MAP-approved messages, services, programs and offerings) to address challenges/opportunities.
Qualifications Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree in science or business-related discipline; MBA preferred.
+ Minimum of 8+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry
+ Minimum of 3+ years in Sales, Account Management, or Field Reimbursement.
+ Maintains customer focused mindset and provides timely response to customer requests per defined expectations.
+ Buy-and-bill experience with knowledge of coverage, coding and reimbursement process for public and private payers, their respective systems and processes.
+ Proven experience in working within and understanding the practice/reimbursement management environment in both offices and healthcare systems.
+ Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation skills
+ Strong executive presence and experience engaging and presenting to key customers.
+ Experience navigating and partnering with leadership of complex organized customers (e.g. Private Equity Groups, integrated accounts).
+ Direct experience in leading access / reimbursement strategy or active case management
+ Understanding of the complexities of buy and bill reimbursement and role model compliant and appropriate customer support through the process.
Preferred:
+ Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of the retina community
+ Experience in medical benefit products
+ Existing relationships with Retina Practices/Institutions and other customers commensurate with this role.
Working Environment:
+ This position is field based within the assigned geographical region.
+ Must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time including overnight travel.
Compensation Range:$140,000 - $187,000 00(NOTE: Final Salary could be more or less, based on experience.)
