    *The Child Welfare Academy at the University of Maryland, School of Social Work, is seeking aSenior Training Specialistto lead the ongoing development and execution of pre-service and in-service training programs for Maryland child welfare professionals.*This position will facilitate both in-person and virtual training on a wide range of topics, independently design curricula, develop training materials, and ensure that training complies with state/federal level mandates, best practices in child welfare, and adult learning theory. The Senior Training Specialist also monitors and identifies future training needs and strategizes the development and enhancement of training programs and components using implementation science and continuous quality improvement to make data driven decisions. Additionally, the Senior Training Specialist collaborates with state partners to assess and develop implementation, training, and technical assistance plans to support actualization of Maryland's child welfare transformation efforts and ensure that federal and state policy and practice guidelines are effectively translated into practice (e.g., Alternative Response, Human Trafficking, Parent Partnership, Integrated Practice Model, Safe Sleep, Families First Prevention Services, Kin First Culture). The Child Welfare Academy (CWA) prepares child welfare professionals and resource parents to effectively provide services and care for children and families in the MD child welfare system through specialized education, training, information dissemination, evaluation and technical assistance. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.*/ *Essential Functions:* * Lead the development and execution of pre-service and in-service training curricula for child welfare professionals using generally accepted methods appropriate to the field and in accordance with state policies/priorities and identified core competencies. * Facilitate child welfare training programs on a wide range of topics, both in-person and online, which apply adult learning concepts, effectively engage participants with different learning needs, and foster knowledge acquisition, skill development, and implementation of best practices in the field. * Lead the development, design and delivery of training materials such as handouts/workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, online training, homework assignments, transfer of learning activities, and participant evaluations using adult learning principles and training design best practices. * Continuously monitor the effectiveness and relevance of training materials and curricula and make modifications as needed. * Collaborate with state partners to assess, develop, and implement training and technical assistance plans to ensure that policy and identified priorities are effectively translated into practice (e.g., Alternative Response, Human Trafficking, Parent Partnership, Family First Prevention, Youth Transition Planning, Integrated Practice Model, Kin First Culture, etc.). * Perform other duties as assigned. *Education:*Bachelor of Science in Social Work or related field. MSW strongly preferred. *Experience:*Four (4) years related training experience of which three (3) must be in child welfare and implementing child welfare improvement/practice model strategies and training/coaching experience with expertise in adult learning theory and training design and delivery best practices. A background in child protective services is preferred. *Licensure/Certification:*LCSW preferred. *Other:*Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* * Knowledge of core child welfare values, dynamics and best practices, including family-centered, trauma-responsive, ethically sound, culturally responsive principles and practices. * Demonstrated understanding and application of adult learning theory, training best practices, and transfer of learning strategies when designing and facilitating training in order to enhance participant engagement, learning and positive outcomes. * Ability to communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts in a clear and concise way, as well as appropriately interpret and understand verbal and non-verbal cues and complex written information. * Capacity to take a lead role in training design, development, and facilitation including prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, analyzing options, and exercising sound judgment and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful and responsible behavior when interacting with internal staff, external community partners, and clients at all levels. *Hiring Range:*$88,000 - $98,000, commensurate with education and experience.
