    We are looking to find a highly qualified leader to serve as the Department’s Administrative Consultant for Higher Education Division in the Bureau of Educational Examiners. This person will provide key leadership and oversight for the Department.

    Your Responsibilities:

    Coordinate with the Chief of the Bureau of Educational Examiners to develop and maintain standards and compliance with education licensure and preparation. Contribution’s will include:

     

    a) maintaining and supporting high quality educator for Iowa students;

     

    b) maintaining and supporting high quality educator preparation in Iowa; and

     

    c) providing relevant and timely information to the field.

     

    Develop internal procedures and policies related to Department implementation new Iowa Code and Administrative Code, for internal used and external support.

     

    Support development state reports related to licensure and professional practices. Assist with preparation of responses to legislative inquiries as needed. Develop in collaboration with Executive Director and Attorney the development, tracking of Administrative Code. Monitors legislative process and impact on Bureau.

     

    Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and immediate communications to Iowa Educators and assist in maintaining the Bureau’s website and online application system with current policies and initiatives.

     

    Evaluate operational structures, processes and procedures and recommends refinements/changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

     

    Maintain professional competency through review of professional research, on-site visitation of programs and continuing education activities. Participate in professional activities of Bureau, Division, Department, and national and state organizations. This work includes regular participation in bureau and division meetings, state committees and, assigned work teams.

    DESIRABLE (OR) REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Experience in classroom instruction or school administration.

    + Experience in curriculum development and/or evaluation.

    Hours: 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M., Monday – Friday; some nights and weekends, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel

    Selectives

    160 Teaching/Training:

    6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in instructing students individually or in groups – this includes preparing materials, delivering material (i.e., lectures, presentations, demonstrations), keeping records of student progress and communicating progress to students.

    AND

    186 Education:

    6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in education, instructional design, or a closely-related field.

    AND

    200 Possession of a valid Iowa Teaching Certificate

     

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

    1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, and experience equal to five years of full-time, professional-level work in program administration, development, management, or operations.

     

    2) A combination of a total of nine years of education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work may substitute for one year of full-time experience.

     

    3) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in social work, law, education, engineering, or public or business administration, and experience equal to three years of full-time, professional-level work in program administration, development, management, or operations.

     

    4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as an Education Program Consultant.
