    Electrical Project Engineer

    Job Description

    As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will act as the Owner’s Representative for capital project execution, ensuring effective collaboration and communication with engineering contractors during the FEED/FEL-3 process. You will coordinate and lead meetings with subject matter experts, site personnel, and contractors, while also conducting bid walks and responding to requests for information promptly. Your role will encompass supporting project management through all phases, advocating for safety, preparing bid packages, and managing construction contractors.

    Responsibilities

    + Act as Owner’s Representative for capital project execution.

    + Liaise with engineering contractors during the FEED/FEL-3 process for ISBL and OSBL equipment.

    + Review approval drawings and provide feedback.

    + Coordinate and lead meetings with SMEs, site personnel, and engineering contractors.

    + Conduct bid walks with contractors in the field for budgetary and firm proposals.

    + Respond to RFIs in a timely manner.

    + Support the management of projects through final project closure, including scope development, risk assessments, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction execution, commissioning, startup, and project closure documentation.

    + Advocate for strong safety awareness and participate in construction safety audits and contractor safety meetings.

    + Prepare bid packages and requests for proposals for materials, equipment, and services.

    + Condition bids received to ensure lowest-cost vendor selection.

    + Manage construction contractors for execution of field work in the electrical & instrumentation disciplines.

    + Work with construction coordinators in planning project construction activities.

    + Interface with key site and company personnel to maximize resource utilization.

    + Review electrical & instrumentation engineering deliverables.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred.

    + 5 years of project engineering work experience, preferably in chemical or heavy industry, continuous process plant, or a design engineering firm.

    + Familiarity with electrical and instrumentation systems such as electrical load list, power/grounding/lighting system design, transformers/switchgears/MCC design.

    + Basic understanding of industrial work practices related to Health, Safety, and Environmental impacts.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Work experience in oil, petrochemical, or chemical operating facilities.

    + Experience in operations, technology, maintenance, construction, construction management, or HSE.

    + Previous experience in an operating industrial facility (chemical, petrochemical, or other heavy manufacturing).

    + SAP software knowledge preferred.

    + Working knowledge of project management processes, including stage gate processes.

    + Working knowledge of project control functions and their application to capital projects.

    Work Environment

    The position is primarily onsite in Colonial Heights, involving work in large modular structures, both indoor and outdoor. It is field-based rather than design-focused, with occasional travel to engineering firm offices. Expect a collaborative environment with autonomy and leadership opportunities, supporting a large organization.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $52.00/hr.
