    Job Title: Tool and Die Maker

    Job Description

    The primary responsibility of the Tool and Die Maintenance Technician is preventative and corrective maintenance on stamping dies in accordance with established standards. This role involves performing various technical tasks, including welding, grinding, machining, and fabrication, to ensure the high-quality production of parts.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform welding, grinding, operate cranes, machining, and fabrication.

    + Smooth flat and contoured surfaces using power grinders.

    + Fit and assemble parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms.

    + Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.

    + Perform machining, finishing, assembly, and tuning of dies.

    + Carry out emergency repairs if any issues arise.

    + Perform die modifications for surface quality and accuracy.

    + Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.

    + Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.

    + Work in a team setting.

    + Adhere to ISO and IATF procedures and work instructions.

    + Log daily book entries to communicate activities, issues, and progress of die work.

    + Other duties as assigned by the Die Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Manager.

    Essential Skills

    + Strong technical capacity to perform required repairs and maintenance while following safety protocols.

    + Ability to be licensed to operate powered industrial equipment.

    + Troubleshooting and analytical skills.

    + Experience building and/or maintaining high volume casting (or stamping) dies.

    + Welding ability.

    + High school diploma or equivalent (required), Technical Degree preferred.

    + Some electrical and mechanical knowledge.

    + Demonstrated success in troubleshooting and problem-solving.

    + Technical knowledge and skills in Tool & Die, Welding, and Machining.

    + Strong mechanical and shop math aptitude (preferred).

    + Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation.

    + Knowledge of Lockout/Tag-out (LOTO) procedures.

    + Ability to manage time effectively.

    + Team player.

    + Adherence to attendance policy.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Technical Degree preferred.

    + Experience in industrial maintenance and/or military experience.

    Work Environment

     

    This job primarily operates in a plant floor environment and requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The role may also require working outdoors or in an office setting. This position routinely uses hand tools and various meters, along with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day, with frequent lifting and/or moving of items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with potential weekend work and extended hours as required. No travel is required.

    This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, Missouri.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
