Job Title: Job CaptainJob Description
We are currently seeking a Job Captain for our Chicago studio. The Job Captain will work under the general supervision of a Senior Job Captain, Architect, or Project Manager, providing design support primarily in project administration, design development, and contract documents.
Responsibilities
+ Create and review construction documents to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical systems, building codes, and ADA requirements.
+ Oversee all CD production and review for smaller projects.
+ Coordinate with senior technical and design staff to provide technical solutions for design challenges.
+ Manage projects through the contract administration phase.
+ Coordinate engineering consultants' work to ensure compliance with design solutions and timely submission of documents.
+ Assist with field surveys in unusual circumstances.
+ Manage the contract administration budget for assigned projects, ensuring adherence and informing relevant parties of any potential variances.
+ Mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate Designers, overseeing tasks and providing feedback.
+ Conduct client interviews to determine technical requirements for the design.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Revit and advanced Revit skills.
+ Working knowledge of construction documents and procedures.
+ Extensive knowledge of design principles and standards.
+ Intermediate documentation and field observational skills.
+ Advanced interior architecture detailing skills.
+ Knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements.
+ Contract administration and documentation skills.
+ Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.
+ Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills.
+ Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
+ Presentation and graphic communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Graduate of architecture or design school or equivalent experience.
+ Several years of experience in corporate interior design projects.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage and lead junior staff through direct authority and subject matter expertise.
+ Adobe Suite experience preferred.
Work Environment
The position is located in the Loop, directly across from Millennium Park/Art Institute. The work schedule includes three days in the office (Monday and Wednesday are mandatory, with flexibility to choose the third day) and two days remote. The office currently has a team of 37, divided into design-focused, technical-focused, and graphic design teams. Our main project types include Workplace, Retail, and Hospitality, with the Chicago studio focusing solely on Corporate Workplace Interiors. We offer reimbursement for passed exams for licensure and provide study groups.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/hr.
