    The Louisiana Scholars' College, the state's selective-admission honors college of the liberal arts and sciences, located at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, seeks applications from broadly trained individuals to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant/ Associate Professor of History with an anticipated state date of August 8, 2025.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in History or a related field. The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate honors History courses, as well as be able and willing to contribute to a team-taught Core/Great Texts curriculum.

     

    Preference will be given to applicants with prior college level teaching experience, experience directing student research, and experience in honors education. The successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of scholarly achievement. Applicants should be committed to liberal arts education and willing to interact with colleagues and students from other fields in the arts and sciences to maintain and improve an integrated, multidisciplinary honors curriculum.

     

    Job Concepts

     

    Duties include teaching 12-15 contact hours per semester; holding 10 office hours per week; advising students as assigned; directing undergraduate theses as needed; maintaining a research agenda; developing curricula; and working on committees as assigned.
