This position exists to provide skilled locksmith work on all locks, associated equipment, and key control in a professional manner by providing consistent quality services to ensure clean, safe and environmentally sound buildings, grounds and operations for all clientele. Some of the job duties include: Ensuring security by installing and maintaining locks, cores, and related hardware while providing necessary repairs. Oversee key control and inventory management to safeguard the Capitol Complex, keeping accurate records of issued keys. Plan and implement new locking systems to align with modern security standards. Train backup staff to ensure operational continuity. Collaborate with various teams to support smooth facility management, comply with safety regulations, and execute additional tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicant must meet **one** of the following requirements:
+ Certification by the Associated Locksmiths of America as a Registered Locksmith OR
+ Completion of a locksmith training course (Diploma/Certification), plus two (2) years’ experience performing locksmith duties, including rekeying, repairing and maintaining
+ Three (3) years’ experience performing locksmith duties, including rekeying, repairing and maintaining locks
And the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Ability to read construction plans, blueprints and specifications sufficient to design and key systems for buildings
+ Math skills sufficient to estimate labor and material costs for planned projects
+ Knowledge of master key systems
Must possess a valid class D driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with intelligent key systems.
+ Experience with security tier key systems.
+ Experience with electronic key control systems.
Physical Requirements
Successful candidate must pass pre-employment physical. Physical Demands: Work Performance Testing (WPT). Job involves exerting up to 21-35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 13-21 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 7-10 pounds of force constantly to move or lift objects.
Additional Requirements
Must possess a valid class D driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
