Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs general clerical duties such as: filing, answering phone, charting reports and processing requisitions. Provides a safe and efficient transfer or transportation of patients from one area within the hospital to another. Maintains work area to be clean and safe at all times. Maintains patients’ modesty at all times. Has the ability to transport patients with a multitude of additional equipment; intravenous and oxygen. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the adult and geriatric population.

What you will do in this role:

+ Additional responsibilities will include and not to be limited to:

+ Print EKG strips and file in patient chart once RN staff reviews and signs

+ Take vital signs

+ Blood sugar checks

+ Assist RN with patient linen changes, to turn bedbound patients (any/all patient care duties when needed), and transport patients (ex: to another unit, when getting discharged)

+ Help remove old food trays, trash, soiled linens from patient rooms

+ File telemetry sheets in designated folder

+ Clean all telemetry boxes and wires in designated area

+ Clean and remove all labels from old charts and store in designated cabinets

+ Put together patient discharge packets along with all pertinent facility krames forms/packet (e-Precision)

+ Print additional labels for telemetry use and place in designated binder

+ Change out sharps container when full (equipment room)

+ Restock and put together Admission and Discharge folders

+ Print diet sheet if requested by food service staff

+ Submit Work Orders as needed to BioMed, Facilities Management, IT, etc. (Kingwood Intranet)

+ Restock electrodes, telemetry pouches, batteries, or other supplies for oncoming shift (equipment room)

+ Restock patient med/supplies cabinet in each bay – flushes, 3ml syringe with blunt attached, 2x2 gauze, med cups paper/plastic, etoh pads, extra electrode packet

+ Restock all printers and copiers with paper (supplies closet)

+ Pick up printer toners from Central Supplies (must turn in used to get new)

+ Type up Unit Assignment Sheet for nurses

+ Assist nurses with sheath pulling

What qualifications you will need:

+ Prior hospital-based experience in transporting patients preferred.

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
