    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    Mon-Friday 8am-4pm (may be times when employee comes in/leaves a little early)

    Position Summary:

    The Sepsis Coordinator works in collaboration with the medical and hospital staff to ensure interdisciplinary provision of evidenced based guidelines care to septic patients. This position provides professional expertise in the analysis and improvement of care for patients with sepsis/septic shock and functions as a performance management and improvement educator and coach for hospital and medical staff to ensure optimal care management and outcomes. The Coordinator collects, analyzes data and improves processes and outcomes, as prioritized. Maintains and refines a sepsis protocol utilizing evidenced based medicine to meet standard of care. This position identifies best practices and promotes utilization of such within the organization.

     

    + Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and nursing services, analyzing appropriate internal and external data and information to identify opportunities in collaboration with stakeholders for improving services and patient outcomes

    + Evaluates her/his own performance based on professional practice standards, relevant studies and regulations, and organizational criteria identifying areas of strength, as well as areas for professional/practice development.

    + Contributes to nursing management education and professional development of staff, students, and colleagues in an environment of mutual respect and understanding

    + Promotes research, and integrating evidence-based knowledge into the identification of best practice in the delivery of nursing care to the appropriate population

    + Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations for the practice of all aspects of nursing.

    + Responsible for interviewing and hiring in conjunction with the department director

    + Assists the Department Director to operate within approved budget.

    + Utilizes the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as the foundation for nursing practice

    + Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and others practicing in a Shared Governance model of nursing practice.

    + Assists Department Director in directing nursing units and programs

    + Ensures quality of care to patients and families represents FRMC mission and values

    + Develops and monitors programs

    + Promotes satisfaction of internal and external customers

    + Provides leadership, direction and guidance to assigned staff

    + Implements corrective actions and conducts performance evaluations in conjunction with Department Director

    + Effectively addresses personnel issues in order to promote a productive and healthy work environment.

    + Collaborates with care providers to achieve compliance with quality indicators.

    + Performs assignments within established time frames.

    + Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    What qualifications you will need:

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education: BSN, MSN preferred

     

    Licensure/Certifications: Must hold a current license from the Kentucky Board of Nursing; Current Basic Life Support (BLS).

     

    Experience: 3 years satisfactory clinical experience preferred

     

    This position requires progressive nursing leadership experience demonstrating solid management skills. The Quality Coordinator should have the ability to carry out all responsibilities in a thorough and timely manner and must possess excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.

     

    + Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

    + Registered Nurse

    + Bachelors Degree or higher
