Part-Time CDL Instructor

Employment Detail: Part-Time
Review will begin May 16, 2025 and continue until position is filled.
DUTIES:
+ Instructs CDL students in range skills including pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, backing, and driving activities.
+ Implements techniques to facilitate student active learning.
+ Participates in program and curriculum development and outcome assessments.
+ All truck driving instructors must typically have knowledge, skill, and actual performance abilities that far exceed the abilities identified in the objectives of the curriculum.
+ Driving instructors communicate instructions to students, assess student performance, and provide students guidance on performing maneuvers on a skills driving range and in the truck on roads.
+ Inspect vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ OTR Driving: 3 years including a minimum of one (1) year as a long haul/OTR tractor-trailer driver
+ Current Valid CDL-A
+ DOT Physical Card
+ Must be able to pass a DOT drug/alcohol screen
+ Recent Truck Driving Experience: Minimum of one (1) year as a long haul/OTR tractor-trailer driver
+ A safe CDL A driving record
+ Knowledge/Skill: Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of safe truck driving and all of the laws and regulations covering tractor-trailer interstate operations. Driving instructors must also be capable of demonstrating the curriculum subject matter for the students
Instructor must meet the minimum qualifications for interstate tractor-trailer drivers in accordance all requirements of the applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, including but not limited to, meeting the physical and driver qualification standards of Part 391, as well as be able to pass a DOT drug/alcohol screen.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ One (1) year of vocational education tractor-trailer driver teaching / driver training experience, or two (2) years of practical trucking related experience that demonstrates instructional competency
+ Endorsements in Double/Triples, Tank and HAZMAT
+ Attitude: Driving instructors/teachers must show an attitude that is favorable toward performance. Driver/Instructor attitudes are assessed according to professionalism, respect, motivation, maturity, and safety
