Summary:
To provide a combination of secretarial, computer data entry, reception and clerical duties at the direction of the Administrative Nurse Manager or Designee.
Responsibilities:
1. Routinely places appropriate forms on charts, progress reports, doctors’ orders.
2. Ensures that all documents are properly stamped with correct patient identification and that patient records are current at all times.
3. Includes ensuring that OR records are readily available for nurses
4. Ensures that complete information is filled in on all requisitions Notifies departments appropriate for task (facilities, x-ray)
5. Takes information for add on bookings, completing the booking sheet Maintains and keeps adequate supplies of charts, forms and clerical supplies
6. Contacts departments, services, physicians as requested Maintains appropriate records, statistics and schedules as required, participates in PI
7. Maintains nursing station in neat and orderly fashion, bulletin boards in proper format and strives to keep them current
8. Files policies, procedures, delineation of privileges in the appropriate unit manuals; deeps reference materials in order.
9. Files and copies all documents as required
10. Appropriately responds to intercom, phones form OR suites and facilitates patient flow
11. Directs communication with pathology, radiology, PAT, ASU and PACU
12. Prepares previous days OR records for data entry, charges
13. Prepares daily staffing sheet for nurse manager
14. Prepares on call lists for OR Manager Transports specimens to pathology, radiology as needed
15. Provides dispatch services from OR to central, storeroom, pharmacy, purchasing, laboratory, and radiology
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
17. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
Other Information:
Required: High School Graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Experience: Minimum 1 year operating room experience.
Previous secretarial/computer experience preferred with Windows based computer system.
Hospital or other health care setting experience.
Working Conditions:
Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk
Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
