    Job Title: Temporary Payroll and HR Specialist (Affordable Housing Company)

     

    Duration: Temporary Assignment lasting until December 2025 (with the chance to turn permanent for the right candidate!)

Seeking a results-oriented Temporary Payroll and HR Specialist who can independently manage day-to-day payroll and HR needs with efficiency and accuracy.

    Job Summary:

    The Payroll and HR Specialist will play a key role in ensuring an exceptional employee experience by processing payroll, managing benefits, and assisting with various HR tasks. This role demands a self-starter with stand-alone generalist experience who is well-versed in handling payroll, benefits, and employee relations matters. Successful candidates must have experience with bi-weekly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now (WFN) and California-specific HR practices.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Payroll Administration – Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for 120 California-based employees using ADP Workforce Now (WFN), including tax calculations, deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions.

    + Employee Benefits – Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, troubleshooting benefit-related questions, and ensuring compliance.

    + Employee Relations & Onboarding – Assist with HR tasks such as employee onboarding, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring smooth transitions for hires and terminations.

    + Compliance – Maintain compliance with federal, state (California), and local regulations related to payroll, benefits, and HR, ensuring timely reporting and documentation as needed.

    + Other Administrative Tasks – Support HR policies, file maintenance, and ad hoc project work as required.

    Requirements

    • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and other payroll systems.

    • Strong knowledge of HR compliance, including local and federal regulations.

    • Effective communication skills to engage with employees and management.

    • Proven ability to manage hiring processes and employee relations.

    • Familiarity with ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) and recruitment strategies.

    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.

    • Previous experience in a similar HR management role.
