As a member of the Communications Technology team, the **Sr. Digital Creative Developer** plays a key role in designing and developing digital destinations that bring our immersive stories to life across the globe.
A successful Sr. Creative Developer partners with editorial, creative, insights, and engineering teams to elevate the user experience and storytelling across Disney websites, mobile apps, digital signage, social media, and more. Your technical expertise and creative ideas contribute to the delivery of global engagement campaigns and web experiences seen by millions of fans, and the content platforms and backstage communications relied on by Cast Members, Crew Members, Imagineers, and employees across the company.
Play a central role in the DX Communications Technology team’s mission to amplify the reach of internal and external communications by being **accountable for the technical implementation and visual quality of our frontend experiences.**
This is a hybrid role that stays connected to the magic from our historic offices in the backlot of Hollywood Studios, and contributes to a disruptive team that is nimble, creative, optimistic, and **boundlessly ambitious** .
Responsibilities:
+ **Imagine:** As a member of the broader Global Public Relations organization, be part of the team dreaming up and prototyping new ways to engage audiences on our websites and beyond.
+ **Design:** Create magical and inclusive user experiences across cast and guest-facing platforms by transforming business requirements and editorial strategies into rich, beautiful destinations.
+ **Build:** Lead project teams and develop technical solutions for digital communications, including WordPress websites, editing tools, integrations, and highly customized frontend experiences. Work independently with developers and technology partners to implement and deliver impactful solutions.
+ **Empower:** Define and maintain reusable React components and Gutenberg blocks, and train others in how to use them.
+ **Support:** Guide content owners and creators through Disney’s digital landscape via project consultation, training, and documentation.
+ **Adapt:** Continuously grow your knowledge of the global business and stay flexible to deliver on new Communications priorities, including confidential and time-sensitive projects.
+ **Innovate:** Research new solutions, techniques, trends, and skills as technology evolves to provide forward-thinking solutions.
Acumen:
Exceptional understanding of programming languages, tools, and development processes on large teams; practical experience developing and deploying custom websites and front-end interfaces on content management systems; confident leading development operations of the team. Strong relationship building, written/verbal communication and time management skills, capable of multitasking and working in a deadline-driven environment, and knowledge of/affinity for the Disney brand. Confident collaborating with and training peers and leaders. Comfortable explaining technical concepts and processes to non-technical clients and business partners.
Basic Qualifications:
+ **A demonstrated ability to design and implement frontend web experiences.**
+ 3+ years of interactive design and development experience, with a primary focus on content management systems and interactive design implementation.
+ Practical experience writing, reviewing, and maintaining code for a range of web applications, integrations, and software libraries (e.g. HTML, SASS, JavaScript, React, NodeJS, PHP).
+ Experience building websites, themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks on WordPress.
+ Experience building code templates, maintaining technical documentation, optimizing development processes, and conducting quality assurance testing.
+ Experience managing and updating code branches, release schedules, and project tasks using version control and project management tools (e.g. Visual Studio, GitLab, Jira, git).
+ Passion for digital accessibility and inclusion (WCAG, WAI-ARIA, ADA, multi-language)
+ Familiarity with industry-standard design and prototyping applications, such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
+ Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications for media editing and optimization, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder.
+ Flexible, organized, and motivated to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Confidence gathering requirements and translating business needs into technical concepts with content owners, technology partners, and leaders.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 5+ years of interactive design and development experience, with demonstrated experience delivering scalable, high-traffic digital experiences.
+ Experience developing animated interfaces and websites using industry-standard tools such as GSAP, three.js, or similar.
+ Experience with a variety of frontend code libraries and frameworks.
+ Practical experience building internal style guides or design frameworks into accessible digital experiences.
+ Demonstrated experience managing complex tasks and deliverables across multiple projects.
+ Exceptional understanding of website performance and scalability.
+ Familiarity with web analytics, SEO, and campaign tracking.
+ Familiarity with existing Disney communication platforms, including disneyconnect.com, disneyparksblog.com, Cast Life, CastTV, Events with Disney, etc.
Education:
Bachelor of Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Digital Communications, Digital Marketing, or related area.
