Job Description

Zurn Elkay Water Solutions is looking for a motivated and driven Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team at the Lumberton, NC facility, home to our innovative sink manufacturing operation. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, high-performance manufacturing environment focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities

+ Assist the Manufacturing Engineering team in optimizing sink production processes, including metal forming, welding, polishing, and assembly.

+ Support implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives and 5S activities.

+ Perform time studies and workflow analysis to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.

+ Create and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process documentation.

+ Assist in tooling and fixture design or improvement initiatives.

+ Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.

+ Collect and analyze production data to support root cause analysis and process improvements.

+ Participate in Kaizen events and cross-functional improvement projects.

Qualifications/Requirements

+ Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

+ Completion of sophomore year or higher preferred.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) a plus.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

+ Interest in hands-on manufacturing environments and continuous improvement.
