+ We are looking for a highly experienced and strategic Director of Engineering for Enterprise Payments Platform. This platform is at the core of our business, processing high volumes of transactions securely, reliably, and efficiently.
+ As the Director, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision and roadmap, leading multiple engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration, and ensuring the platform meets stringent requirements for security, compliance, scalability, and performance.
+ You will work closely with Product Management, Operations, Risk & Compliance, Finance, and other engineering leaders to deliver a best-in-class payments experience.
What you'll do...
+ Responsible for leading, mentoring, and growing multiple engineering teams and managers across our payments solutions domain (e.g., processing, reconciliation, reporting, integrations), this role defines team structures, roles, and responsibilities for maximum effectiveness and scalability.
+ You will oversee hiring, performance management, and career development, champion best practices in software development, testing, deployment, and operations, and foster a strong team culture centered on collaboration, ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
+ Responsible for defining and driving the technical strategy and long-term architectural vision for the Enterprise Payments Platform, ensuring alignment with business goals and the overall company technology strategy. This includes making critical architectural and technical decisions, overseeing the technical roadmap to support product initiatives and proactively manage technical debt, while ensuring the platform's design prioritizes scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance.
+ Responsible for presenting the Platform strategy and its progress to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
+ Responsible for overseeing the complete software development lifecycle for the payments platform, spanning planning, development, and deployment, you will work closely with Product Management to ensure timely and high-quality feature delivery by implementing and refining agile development processes.
+ This role also involves monitoring platform performance, reliability, and operational health, and establishing robust monitoring and alerting systems.
+ Ensuring the platform adheres to relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, CFPB, KYC, GDPR/data privacy) through close collaboration with internal Risk, Compliance, and Security teams, as well as external PSP providers, on implementing necessary controls and participating in audits, you will apply a deep understanding of complex payment flows, processing logic, reconciliation processes, and potential fraud vectors, continuously staying current with trends and changes in the payments industry landscape.
+ Responsible for partnering closely with Product Management to translate business requirements into technical solutions and prioritize the platform roadmap, collaborating with technical and operational teams including Operations, SRE, and Infrastructure on smooth deployments and operations, and working with various business stakeholders such as Finance, Sales, Subscriptions, Part & Accessories, and Ecommerce on relevant requirements.
You'll have...
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
+ 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a significant portion focused on backend systems, distributed systems, or high availability secure platforms.
+ 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership, including managing multiple teams or managing managers.
+ 5+ years’ experience building and scaling complex payments systems, fintech platforms, or high-transaction volume financial applications.
+ Strong understanding of payment processing concepts, flows (authorization, capture, refund, fraud etc.), and related technologies.
+ Experience with security best practices and regulatory compliance relevant to payments (e.g., PCI DSS, data encryption, tokenization).
+ Experience designing and implementing highly available, scalable, and reliable distributed systems.
+ Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with cloud-native architectures.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.

+ Master's degree in a related technical field.
+ Experience with specific payment types or networks (e.g., Card schemes like Visa/Mastercard, ACH, Wire transfers, Digital Wallets).
+ Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
+ Familiarity with fraud detection and risk management systems.
+ Experience working in a regulated industry environment.
+ Experience with specific technologies relevant to our stack [List relevant technologies, e.g., Java, Python, Go, Kafka, Kubernetes, specific databases like PostgreSQL/Cassandra/MongoDB].
