    The Employee shall provide support to NSWC PC for the Structural shop. In general, the level of capability required will be comparable to the WG 3414-10 journeyman level machinist/water jet operator. This functional area includes direct support in performing water jet services. Support in this area will include numerous tasks dissimilar in nature but have in common water jet machining of metallic and non-metallic materials/components to make completed assemblies per blueprints in accordance with assigned print tolerances.

    Responsibilities

    + These tasks include direct support in performing water jet machining support, such as but not limited to; gathering required materials, blueprint reading, laying out parts to include computer aided drafting of parts, ability to use precision measuring devices, and determining what other equipment is necessary to complete the task.

    + The incumbent must be familiar with standard CAD practices, be able to read blueprints, calculate complex layout formulas using shop mathematics to include trigonometry, and have a working knowledge of geometric dimension and tolerances.

    + Typical duties required for water jet operation include, but are not limited to: gathering required materials, loading raw materials, calculating bend allowances, transferring dimensions from a paper drawing into Omax computer graphics software, programming the water jet machine, cutting materials to required dimensions, checking finished dimensions, deburring parts, and forwarding parts to subsequent shops to facilitate further machining or assembly.

    + The OMAX water jet machine will be accessible for the job tasking requirements. The Contractor shall be required to assist with shop clean up and is responsible for assuring general shop cleanliness standards in his/her assigned work area.

    + The incumbent shall become familiar with the DOD, Navy, and local NSWC PC policies and procedures for performing the work detailed below.

    + The incumbent shall be required to obtain qualifications to operate the 5-ton overhead crane per NAVFAC P-307, CAT III instructions.

    Qualifications

    + 5 years of experience operating and programming OMAX or similar water jet machines.

    + High school diploma.

    + The incumbent must be familiar with standard CAD practices, be able to read blueprints, calculate complex layout formulas using shop mathematics to include trigonometry, and have a working knowledge of geometric dimension and tolerances.

    + Interim Secret clearance needed to start employment and must maintain Secret clearance.
