    Overview

     

    The Director of Engineering is responsible for directing, overseeing, and utilizing functional authority for operation, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of all projects or process-related activities of engineering design or commissioning.

    Responsibilities

    + Directs a design team of project managers, engineers, and technical staff in the development of building designs that support client requirement and schedule.

    + Directs a commissioning team of commissioning agents, and commissioning technicians to perform the commissioning team functions that support client requirement and schedule.

    + Delegates projects among engineering or commissioning staff according to specialized knowledge, skills and abilities; and consider project requirements.

    + Approves process specification and design or commissioning standards, and reviews engineering designs for accuracy and compliance.

    + Maintains a strong relationship with clients and vendors, and develops new and expanded business based upon successful delivery of existing projects.

    Qualifications

    + Must have a Bachelor-s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a 4-year accredited program.

    + Acceptable Degree Alternatives: Engineering Technology / Construction Management Degree.

    + 5 years minimum experience as a Project Manager.

    + Alternative Minimum Qualifications: Must have a minimum of 15 years of experience as a Project Manager for the Company.

    + Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project experience.

    + Professional Engineering License.

    + Must be able to lead presentations for marketing and business development for projects.

    + Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    + Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

    + Versed in the industry and the Company-s competitors.

    + Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

    + Project Management Certification from a certifying agency (PMI)

    + Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    + Climbing stairs.

    + Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

    + Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

    + Quiet environment.

    + Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.

    + Be able to attend job site meetings as well as walk job sites under construction.

    + 30% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
