The Department of Revenue is seeking an experienced tax professional to join our team at the Bureau of Enforcement and Taxpayer Assistance (BETA). As a Field Enforcement Agent 1, you will have the opportunity to utilize your unique skill set to conduct investigations of businesses and individuals suspected of violating motor and alternative fuels taxes, business taxes, as well as cigarette and other tobacco taxes.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As a Field Enforcement Agent 1, you will be observing and assisting experienced agents in the field to gain technical experience and skills in order to conduct criminal and tax investigations of businesses and individuals. Work involves learning collection techniques and procedures such as the explanation of tax rules, regulations, reporting requirements, remittance obligations, and penalties for non-compliance. You will be required to enforce compliance of tax laws and regulations for all taxes administered under BETA, through the collection of delinquent taxes and missing returns. In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in field activities as part of canvassing to determine if unregistered businesses are operating without appropriate licenses as well as participate in taxpayer education via the New Registration Outreach.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment, home headquartered

    + Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

    + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    + Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ 50,836.00 (before taxes).

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + Four years of experience in tax investigation work;or

    + Four years of experience in collections operations in a business, commercial, industrial, government, or finance office;or

    + An equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Special Requirements:

    + This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

    Additional Requirements:

    + You must reside in Union, Snyder, or Perry Counties. Relocation is not an option.

    + You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Legal Requirements:

    + This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
