    Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology)

     

    Clinician-Educator or Clinician-Researcher Focus

     

    The **Division of Neonatology** is seeking a physician with a history of excellent training and success in the clinical and academic realms. The new faculty member will deliver clinical care in the neonatal intensive care unit and develop a career in education and/or research. Successful candidates will be committed to pursuing a career that includes publishing and, where appropriate, obtaining extramural grant support for their research. Neonatal-perinatal fellowship training is a requirement.

     

    The University of Rochester, located in the Finger Lakes region of New York, is a major research university with a long history of clinical and laboratory investigation in Neonatology. The Division of Neonatology comprises 19 neonatologists, several pediatricians, and six tenure-track PhD laboratory investigators. Major research areas of interest include pulmonary biology, neonatal clinical trials, childhood pulmonary outcomes of premature infants, neurodevelopment, and neonatal immunology. Faculty hold a variety of federally funded grants and contracts, including several multicenter grants. The Division’s clinical research group includes research coordinators, research nurses, and data management staff supporting 12 investigators with research programs in various areas. The Division is a member of the NICHD Neonatal Research Network, a 15-center collaborative performing clinical trials in newborns. Support for clinical and translational research is partly provided by the University’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI), continuously funded by the National Center for Advancing Translational Science since the inception of the CTSA program. The CTSI provides research support and master’s and doctoral training in public health and clinical and translational investigation.

     

    The Division provides neonatal care at the University’s 68-bed Level IV NICU and at the Rochester General Hospital 14-bed Level II SCN. The University is the Regional Perinatal Center for the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, with a catchment area of 1.2 million.

    Qualifications

    Successful candidates will have shown outstanding promise, and commitment to the care of patients and children. Requirements include a MD or Equivalent, NYS license or license eligible, DEA license, and Board Certification or Eligibility to become Board Certified in the field of pediatric Neonatology.
