The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Leader is responsible for leading and managing comprehensive EH&S programs to ensure regulatory compliance, protect employee health and safety, and promote sustainable practices in a manufacturing environment. The EH&S Leader plays a strategic role in fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship while aligning with organizational goals. This is an onsite position at our Huntsville facility, typically working Monday-Friday with a 7 AM start time. This role does require the job holder to be on-call to handle after-hour issues.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic EH&S Leadership:
+ Develop, implement, and oversee EH&S strategies, policies, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
+ Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on EH&S matters and provide guidance on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
+ Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EH&S standards
Safety Management:
+ Lead workplace safety initiatives, including risk assessments, hazard identification, and incident prevention programs.
+ Develop and deliver safety training programs tailored to various employee groups.
+ Ensure consistent enforcement of safety protocols and foster a safety-first culture across the organization.
Environmental Compliance and Sustainability:
+ Oversee compliance with environmental permits and regulations related to air quality, waste management, and water usage.
+ Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to minimize environmental impact and improve sustainability practices.
+ Identify opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint of manufacturing operations through energy efficiency, waste reduction, and other sustainability initiatives.
+ Prepare and submit accurate regulatory reports and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Incident and Risk Management:
+ Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
+ Manage incident reporting processes and ensure timely communication with internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
+ Develop and oversee emergency response and preparedness plans.
Continuous Improvement:
+ Identify opportunities for improving EH&S processes and programs.
+ Drive continuous improvement in EH&S programs by analyzing performance metrics and benchmarking against industry standards.
+ Lead cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative EH&S solutions.
+ Promote employee engagement and participation in EH&S initiatives.
Team Management and Development:
+ Supervise and mentor EH&S staff, ensuring professional growth and alignment with organizational objectives.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for EH&S-related matters within the facility.
+ Collaborate with department heads and other stakeholders to integrate EH&S priorities into operational plans.
