    Job Summary

    The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) is seeking a Scholarship Coordinator who will report to the Office of Budget Planning & Financial Analysis. The Scholarship Coordinator will manage all student support and scholarship distributions for UMSN. Working with the University Office of Financial Aid (OFA), Rackham Graduate School and the School of Nursing program directors, manage and allocate scholarship funding for nursing students. Responsibilities include understanding and monitoring the funding available and associated restrictions, reviewing student applications for support, determining allocations and disbursements, and generating appropriate reports. The Scholarship Coordinator will exercise professional judgment to resolve complex student situations, counsel and advise students/parents on financial aid and scholarship matters, and serve as UMSN liaison to OFA and Rackham for issues related to student aid.

    Responsibilities*

    + Maintain thorough knowledge of legislation and regulations governing financial aid, need analysis methodology, and both UMSN and University policies and procedures regarding student support and scholarship disbursements. Research additional funding opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.Maintain accurate and timely financial aid processing and reporting. Work on committees and provide input regarding financial support opportunities to the Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and University offices.Work with other resources within the Officeof Budget Planning & Financial Analysis to monitor and project all sources of student support funding.

    + Perform Business Object queries within the M-Pathways system and provide various financial aid and scholarship reports for the Office of Budget Planning & Financial Analysis. Work with other UMSN departments to develop and generate reports and information regarding scholarship funding and other relevant student data.

    + Review eligibility for diverse groups of students seeking merit-based scholarships and/or need based financial assistance. Coordinate the administration of financial aid, scholarship, and loan programs. Advise students, program directors and other stakeholders regarding scholarship opportunities. Assist in developing new policies and procedures regarding student aid allocation and distribution tracking. Serve as liaison to the academic program directors and the Office of Budget Planning & Financial Analysis on scholarship funding issues.

    + Working with the Office Budget Planning & Financial Analysis and student admissions officers, represent the School by providing presentations related to scholarship funding and other student aid on campus at School of Nursing open houses. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Provide effective communication with team members and other offices internal and external to the School to ensure seamless process. Provide accurate and timely follow-up with faculty, students, staff and prospective students and families.

    + Serve as liaison between UMSN and other University departments, such as the Office of Financial Aid, Undergraduate Admissions, CEW, Rackham Graduate School, etc. as it relates to student financial support.Coordinate financial aid processes with admission officers, faculty and staff in the School and at the University. Continuously review financial aid guidelines and procedures and processes for improving efficiency. Develop and generate UMSN financial aid analysis and reports. Identify and proactively resolve issues related to financial aid and scholarship funding.

    + Assist with tracking and reconciliation of UMSN funds, as required.

    + Perform other duties and special projects, as required.

    Required Qualifications*

    Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

    + Two (2) or more years of financial aid or accounting work experience.

    + Two (2) or more years of experience in counseling, student service-related or client-related experience, preferred.

    + Candidate must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums.

    + Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    + Demonstrated experience in performing data queries using Business Objects or similar query tool.

    + Knowledge of University systems or database software and Business Objects queries is preferred.

    + Working knowledge of applicable University policies and procedures is preferred.

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.     Additional Information

    **Shift/Hours/Days:** 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; some occasional evenings and/or weekends may be required. This position is hybrid.

    **Salary Range** : The target salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000 per year. Salary is commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. We encourage all interested parties to apply.
