Chronos Operations (CO) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chenega Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation based in Anchorage, AK. Belonging to the Military, Intelligence, and Operations Support (MIOS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), Chronos has a culture rooted in integrity, respect, and exceptional performance. Chronos is headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, and provides mission-critical services in Advanced Analytics & AI, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Intelligence.
The **Site Safety Manager** will oversee all safety-related aspects of the construction project. This individual will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all safety standards and guidelines, developing and implementing safety plans, and promoting a culture of safety among all personnel on site. The **Site Safety Manager** will oversee, ensuring zero safety violations or incidents by proactively identifying risks and enforcing strict safety protocols.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters on the job site.
+ Coordinate with the project manager and subcontractors to integrate safety into all construction phases.
+ Establish and implement a Safety Health Plan in accordance with all state, federal, local, and company guidelines. This includes but is not limited to job hazard analysis, emergency response, PPE (personal protective equipment) requirements, hazardous energy sources, hazard mitigation, training/certifications, and safety toolbox meetings.
+ Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions for all employees and subcontractors.
+ Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and company policies to eliminate violations and incidents and ensure all personnel wear the appropriate personal protective equipment required.
+ Provide Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all substances/materials to be used in the performance of this contract and maintain safety and training documentation.
+ Ensure that all safety hazards at the end of the workday/project end are mitigated to ensure that the site is not left in an unsafe condition.
+ Conduct regular safety audits, inspections (including hazardous materials), and risk assessments on-site.
+ Investigate incidents and accidents and maintain accurate documentation and reporting.
+ Ensure all employee injuries and incidents are reported to the COR immediately for reporting to GSA Safety and Health.
+ Perform daily and weekly site safety audits.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university OR
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent, with 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree
+ 5+ years of experience in safety management within the construction industry.
+ Experience with government contracting
+ OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent
+ Background check required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local safety requirements, OSHA standards, and willing to take classes to further knowledge.
+ Knowledge of safety requirements and OSHA standards, and willing to take classes to further knowledge.
+ Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills (written, oral, and presentation) to clearly articulate safety expectations.
+ Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify underlying causes of unsafe conditions and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
+ Knowledge of key safety regulations or standards.
+ In-depth understanding of construction principles and practices to effectively manage safety protocols.
+ Ability to design and deliver toolbox talks and safety training.
+ Ability to make rapid, site-critical decisions and implement emergency response plans.
+ Problem solving and the ability to devise solutions to safety-related issues on construction sites.
+ Attention to detail when conducting inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
+ The willingness to work on occasion, long days, nights, and weekends to successfully fulfill the project requirements.
+ A strong work ethic, high integrity, relentless drive and enthusiasm, and a desire for longterm employment.
+ Reliability and regular ontime attendance
+ Good work ethic and active desire to learn
+ Ability to work both independently and within a team
+ Ability to meet minimum security requirements
