    About the Department

     

    The Community Impact Department encompasses our Youth Programs, Community Programs and Youth Events. NYRR is one of the largest non-profit providers of youth and community fitness programming in New York City (with a growing national/international footprint). The Youth Program team develops, administers, and supports an evolving portfolio of youth running programs and resources used by schools, community centers, and families throughout New York City and nationwide. NYRR's flagship youth program, Rising New York Road Runners, brings the benefits of physical activity to various sites to help children develop the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life.

     

    The Community Program team develops, administers, and supports a comprehensive portfolio of programs including our renowned NYRR Striders walking/fitness program for older adults, our NYRR Open Run platform that provides free running and walking racing, and community-building opportunities in parks across the city, and bespoke programs such as NYRR Run for the Future and Youth Ambassadors that provide deep engagement and lifelong skills such as running techniques and public speaking.

     

    The Youth Events team oversees the development and execution of over 35 Rising NYRR events per year, including events associated with our Five-Borough Series and the TCS New York City Marathon, each serving 100-1000 or more participants, and the support of other youth and community-based efforts.

     

    About the Position

     

    The Director, Youth Program Planning supports the overall quality execution of Rising New York Road Runners (RNYRR) and the successful execution of the grant NYRR has with the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). The role will enable streamlined planning, alignment, and cross-collaboration of all subfunctions of Rising New York Road Runners as the overall program and grant-focused sites expand. The role will also work internally and externally to ensure grant compliance and program quality.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Oversee the NYCPS grant initiative by managing the planning and communications involved in successful execution and the yearly review and compliance including working with finance on the VIK reporting requirements

    + Oversee the yearly launch plan for the RNYRR program and schedule all critical aspects including budget reviews, activity report timing, goal updates, and debrief sessions

    + Coordinate with each area of youth programs to align priorities, resources, and budget for development, engagement, implementation, and our Salesforce tech platform.

    + Maintain the shared program calendar with all key dates and deliverables through collaboration with all subfunctions of the program

    + Work with the strategy and planning team on the analysis of all program-related data and the reporting of key performance indicators

    + Support the cross-collaboration needed to follow up on findings from all data and feedback collected

    + Work closely with the brand and digital marketing teams on all external mass communications relative to RNYRR and ensure appropriate parties have seen and approved them to help streamline the process

    + Support documentation of all standard operating procedures for RNYRR and ensure all files and info are accessible and organized for current use and future reference

    + Other duties and department projects as assigned

    Job Requirements:

    Experience:

    + 5+ years' experience in a similar or related field (Social service, public health and/or education experience; working with youth preferred)

    + Minimum 3 years’ experience leading projects of various sizes

    + Experience in a not-for-profit or educational setting preferred

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience preferred

    Skills and Attributes:

    + Proficiency in using Salesforce or other CRM preferred

    + Proficient in Microsoft Business Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams)

    + Excellent project management skills

    + Highly proactive and self-motivated

    + Focused attention to detail

    + Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines

    + Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

    + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

    + Comfortable presenting to organizational senior management and external stakeholders

    Other requirements:

    + Work multiple weekdays and weekend days a year at major NYRR and youth program events, in accordance with the youth events participation policy

    + Knowledge of and/or strong interest in working in a youth services environment with emphasis on fitness

    + Knowledge of NYCPS system highly preferred

    + Knowledge of NYC communities, government, and human service organizations highly preferred

    + Ability to relate and work with diverse populations

    + Travel within NYC as needed to conduct site visits and support events

    + Willingness to undergo NYCPS security clearance procedures if necessary (pre- or post-hire)

     

    Salary: 93k

     

    NYRR requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
