    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    The Food Safety Director will oversee and manage all aspects of the Food Safety program within

     

    their region and companywide as needed. Job duties include:

    Management

    + Lead a team within the broader Innovation group focused on the company’s foundation of food safety.

    + The team comprises 20-30 technical experts and scientists.

    Food Safety Laboratory Oversight

    + Provide strategic direction and leadership for lab operations ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant testing services.

    + Coordinate and organize biomapping at customer locations to gain insight into site performance and pathogen control opportunities.

    + Support technical services group with pathogen analyses of samples collected at customer locations.

    + Perform lab scale experiments simulating processes within customer sites to gain depth of understanding and for evaluation of new processes and/or process improvements.

    + Ensure lab services support current and emerging needs of food and beverage clients, with a focus on innovation and reliability.

    Technical Services for Food and Beverage

    + Lead a field-based technical service team dedicated to pathogen control at customer processing facilities.

    + Guide development and implementation of on-site food safety interventions, sanitation procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.

    + Collaborate with customers to solve complex food safety challenges and ensure compliance with regulatory and customer standards.

    FSQA and Regulatory Compliance

    + Oversee the FSQA group responsible for quality assurance across all company production sites.

    + Ensure consistent application of food safety and quality programs, including HACCP, GMPs, and internal auditing.

    + Manage all regulatory submissions and approvals (USDA, FDA, EPA) necessary for product commercialization.

    + Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations.

    + Special projects and other duties as assigned.

    YOUR MUST HAVES:

    + Must be 18 years of age or older.

    + Bachelor's degree in food science/food safety or other related scientific field.

    + 10+ years of related experience in Food Safety with vast USDA/FDA background.

    + Deep understanding of foodborne pathogens, control strategies, and industry best practices.

    + Proven experience working with USDA, FDA, and EPA regulatory frameworks.

    + Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.

    + Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities.

    WHAT WE PREFER YOU HAVE:

    + Experience leading a food testing laboratory.

    + HACCP, PCQI, or other relevant food safety certifications.

    + Familiarity with sanitation chemicals, environmental monitoring, and food safety interventions.

    OUR ENVIRONMENT:

    This position is based in your home office, when not travelling to the corporate headquarters,

     

    customer, or plant locations which may require the use of PPE including safety glasses, hardhat,

     

    ear protection, and/or other protective equipment/clothing. Walking, standing, sitting, and

     

    computer work are all required in this environment. Sitting for extended periods of time when

     

    travelling (mostly driving) is also required.
