    The Division of Academic Standards, Instruction and Assessment is looking for an Education Consultant 3 - Assessment Literacy Specialist to provide leadership and guidance in developing resources and implementing professional development around the interpretation of statewide assessments results and appropriate uses within a balanced assessment system for educators, district and school leaders.

     

    The position will provide technical assistance and support with interpreting and using assessment data to internal MDE staff, schools, districts, charter schools, and other external stakeholders. Responsibilities include collaboration with various teams and divisions to ensure coherence across agency outreach about data-driven decision-making aimed at improving equitable student outcomes.

     

    This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering state. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 50 or more miles away, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance are eligible to telework up to 100% of the time.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Five (5) years of experience in:

    + Using and interpreting results from Minnesota statewide assessments

    + Evaluating assessment data to inform and improve instruction

    + Creating resources to support and improve assessment literacy

    + Designing and delivering professional development to a variety of audiences on the use of assessment data to improve assessment literacy and instruction

    + Demonstrating knowledge of academic standards and connection with test results

    + Demonstrating knowledge of federal and state requirements related to statewide assessments, including scoring and reporting

    + Demonstrating knowledge of balanced systems of assessment and assessment literacy

    Experience must include:

    + Leading educators and school/district leaders in data analysis and data-based decision making

    OR

    A master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience with four (4) years of professional experience in:

    + Using and interpreting results from Minnesota statewide assessments

    + Evaluating assessment data to inform and improve instruction

    + Creating resources to support and improve assessment literacy

    + Designing and delivering professional development to a variety of audiences on the use of assessment data to improve assessment literacy and instruction

    + Demonstrating knowledge of academic standards and connection with test results

    + Demonstrating knowledge of federal and state requirements related to statewide assessments, including scoring and reporting

    + Demonstrating knowledge of balanced systems of assessment and assessment literacy

    Experience must include:

    + Leading educators and school/district leaders in data analysis and data-based decision making

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Demonstrating organizational skills and attention to details

    + Developing and track schedules

    + Interacting with school personnel and public in a positive, professional manner sometimes under stressful situations

    + Assimilating, retaining and recalling large quantities of information and communicate it effectively to stakeholders

    + Creating visual resources or infographics to communicate information

    + Coordinating collaboration with internal agency teams to support the field

    + Researching, recognizing connections, and synthesizing findings to make recommendations and provide communications and resources

    + Creating and managing web content
