    Job Description

    The Adjunct CDL Trainer at South Central College is responsible for providing comprehensive hands-on training to individuals pursuing a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). This role involves conducting behind-the-wheel training and evaluating trainee performance to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Adjunct CDL Trainer plays a key role in preparing trainees for a successful career in commercial driving while promoting a culture of safety and responsibility. This position is ideal for experienced drivers passionate about sharing their knowledge and ensuring the next generation of CDL holders is prepared to excel safely and professionally.

    Salary Range:

    Approximately $40.00 an hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Valid Unrestricted Class A CDL with a clean driving record.

    + Minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience with manual transmission.

    + Strong communication and instructional skills.

    + Ability to operate and train with various types of commercial vehicles.

    + Patience and a commitment to fostering trainee success.

    + Demonstrated ability to work with diverse learners.

    + Ability to work in a team environment.

    + Self-directed with the ability to remain flexible.

    Preferred Qualification

    + Previous experience as a CDL trainer or instructor.

    + Familiarity with advanced safety technologies in modern commercial vehicles.

    + Knowledge of federal and state CDL regulations and guidelines.

    + Experience operating heavy equipment.

    + Mechanical experience.

    + HazMat, D/T, Tanker, Passenger, School Bus endorsements.

    Other Requirements

    + South Central College is unable to sponsor applicants for work visas. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

    + In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s Vehicle use criteria and consent to Motor Vehicle Records check.
