We are seeking an experienced Regional Environmental Manager to provide technical support and leadership to the Environmental teams, services and operations in the Mid-Atlantic region. This position will be responsible for expanding the Environmental services footprint across the region, while developing new client and business opportunities and maintaining and building current relationships.
This role is also responsible for leading, designing and streamlining daily environmental engineering operations, project scopes and budgets, overseeing technical execution, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance, to ensure they align with the business objectives set forth by senior management.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Environmental Engineering and consulting within the industry, along with proven experience of creating valuable business relationships. Responsibilities
+ Manage regional Environmental Department and service lines.
+ Environmental business development, networking and marketing of Environmental capabilities within the Mid-Atlantic region.
+ Survey marketplace to identify new clients and new markets for Environmental services.
+ Plan regional Environmental strategy in conjunction with regional Executives to meet Company and regional goals.
+ Project a positive image of the Company and colleagues at client negotiations, conferences, technical meetings and within regional offices.
+ Provide senior technical oversight and expertise on complex proposals and projects.
+ Conduct site meetings, site estimates, and project recommendations for prospective and current clients.
+ Create, prepare and update project proposals and technical reports in a timely manner.
+ Deal directly with clients and prospective clients in business development, proposals, contracts or agreements, addressing technical matters.
+ Examine engineering reports, letters and field recommendations produced by field staff.
+ Sign letters, proposals and reports bearing professional stamp (if applicable) and assume responsibility in the name of the Company.
+ Provide leadership, mentorship and guidance to Environmental team members while growing their environmental testing, knowledge base and capabilities.
+ Develop and implement project scopes, site meetings, estimates, budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet client and business objectives.
+ Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
+ Oversee and manage Environmental staff; visit Environmental projects on-site.
+ Review, update and approve invoices weekly for on-going projects.
+ Responsible for Regional Environmental P&L including profitability, costs and adherence to budgets, target utilization goals and profitability of Environmental projects within the region.
+ Maintain excellent communication both verbally and electronically with senior management, other project managers and colleagues to improve consistency and efficiency in reporting procedures.
+ Work independently and collaboratively within office and field environments, adapting to dynamic project needs.
+ Travel to branches within the region to conduct business development opportunities and check in on project sites as needed to conduct inspections, assessments, and provide support.
+ Ensure strict adherence to company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements, promoting a culture of workplace safety and compliance.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or similar is preferred/required.
+ Professional Engineering license (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license in NC, SC, VA, MD is required with the ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
+ A minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting/testing/brownfields redevelopment, asbestos testing, Phase I/II site assessments, underground storage tank (UST) location and removal, soil and groundwater testing, erosion and sediment control inspection, lead, radon and mold remediation is required.
+ OSHA 10/30-hour and relevant environmental certifications preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations regarding brownfields programs is preferred.
+ Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
+ Proven track record of business development and revenue growth in environmental services is required.
+ Experience developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and risk assessments for environmental projects.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
+ Ability to write technical reports, proposals, business correspondences and/or procedure manuals as needed.
+ Ability to lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts.
+ Proven experience in client communication, engagement, and presentation to others.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting, proposal writing, and presentations.
+ Strong leadership skills with an eye for detail and the ability to plan, organize and execute.
+ Experience in the effective use of scheduling and cost control techniques.
+ Excellent project management, leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and train staff, earning respect based on technical and managerial competence and abilities.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and other engineering design software systems with excellent written skills and the ability to use technology/computer.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
+ Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday.
+ Some weekend, overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
+ Regular travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region; you may be required to drive hundreds of miles per day.
+ Typically, this position involves 70% conducting Environmental business development, 30% oversight of work, depending on the week/work.
+ Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments.
+ Field work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing, sitting and potentially repetitive motions.
+ Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
+ Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
