Siteman Cancer Center and BJC HealthCare are recruiting for our next leader of Oncology Data Services, Cancer Registry. This manager will lead cancer registry operations for BJC Healthcare and Siteman Cancer Center, a premium cancer program in the Midwest. Our program consists of 25+ ODS-C staff responsible for 15,000+ cases annually across a multi-hospital healthcare system. Epic and NeuralFrame/KACI are our core software tools.
Candidate must reside in greater St. Louis area.
Overview
**_Barnes-Jewish Hospital_** at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Our Oncology Data Services Department consists of Cancer Registrars with various educational backgrounds ranging from Associate Degrees in healthcare related fields to Bachelor Degrees in Chemistry as well as Master Degrees in Public Health. ¿¿All Cancer Registrars are required to sit for the certification exam administered by the National Cancer Registrar Association and attain their CTR credentials. ¿¿It is the role of the Oncology Data Services Department to review all patients that are treated and/or diagnosed with a malignancy at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Siteman Cancer Center to determine their eligibility for inclusion into the Cancer Registry database as well as their reportability to the Missouri Cancer Registry. ¿¿Approximately 6000 new cases are abstracted into the database annually by 16 CTRs.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Provides effective leadership of the BJC centralized Oncology Data Services department, including team recruitment and hiring, standardizing of cancer registry services, CTR training and education, quality assurance, reporting, CNEXT database maintenance, and maintenance of American College of Surgeons COC accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities
+ Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
+ Manages operational activities and vendors relationships including oncology database management software teams and paid services.
+ Coordinates activities to ensure cancer program remains compliant with ACOS, NAACR, and other external body requirements.
+ Directs operations and integrates services across the BJC health system to maintain registry quality standards, employee performance, and timeliness of HSO data submission. Manages relationships and communicates with HSO leaders to satisfy their cancer registry services needs.
+ Leads and coaches team coordinators to provide appropriate quality assurance reviews.
+ Ensures appropriate registry operations strategies are utilized and optimized for efficiency and accuracy.
+ Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
