    We’re looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership for our Enterprise DevOps team. This team sits at the heart of software delivery for a Fortune 50-scale environment, operating and evolving the tools that thousands of engineers rely on every day. You’ll lead a small but mighty team of engineers responsible for our core platforms—Azure DevOps, GitHub, SonarQube, Artifactory, and LaunchDarkly—and make sure they’re not just operational, but world-class.

     

    This isn’t a “check the box” role. It’s a high-impact seat for someone who wants to push the boundaries of platform engineering while coaching others to do the same. Think architectural decisions, roadmap leadership, incident response rituals, and the occasional “how is this even working?” debugging adventure.

    Responsibilities, What You’ll Do

    + Lead the Pack: Set technical direction, guide architectural decisions, and provide mentorship to a tight-knit team of DevOps engineers.

    + Own the Core Stack: Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our enterprise DevOps platforms—Azure DevOps, GitHub, SonarQube, Artifactory, and LaunchDarkly.

    + Drive Platform Maturity: Partner with security, compliance, and developer experience teams to improve automation, access controls, and self-service capabilities.

    + Be the Calm in the Storm: Serve as escalation point during major incidents. Lead from the front when things get real.

    + Innovate with Purpose: Keep an eye on the bleeding edge, but stay rooted in pragmatism. If it’s shiny and saves hundreds of hours a month, let’s talk.

    + Build the Culture: Help shape a high-performance team culture that’s low on bureaucracy and high on mutual respect, curiosity, and ownership.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

    + 8+ years of overall experience

    + 2+ years of experience leading technical teams before—or you’ve been the senior person everyone already turns to.

    + expertise in one or more of our core platforms, and you’re curious enough to master the rest.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + You can speak fluent GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines in the same conversation—and throw in a strong opinion about artifact governance for good measure.

    + You know the difference between “production-ready” and “production-eventual” and have battle scars to prove it.

    + You collaborate well across engineering, security, and product teams, and you can turn chaos into strategy with a whiteboard and a can of Mountain Dew.

    At our organization, we recognize the importance of flexibility in today's work environment. We are pleased to offer a remote work option for our employees. However, we would like to express a preference for applicants located in or near Louisville, KY.

    To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

    At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.

     

    Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

     

    Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

     

    Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

     

    Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

     

    Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

    Pay Range

    The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

    $129,300 - $177,800 per year

    This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
