The Server Deployment Engineer will support the Classroom Connectivity Universal Project by overseeing server integration across all five boroughs. Responsibilities include configuring physical and virtual servers, troubleshooting server-related issues, and providing technical support for server and network infrastructure. The engineer will also develop and maintain automation scripts and ensure smooth server operations throughout the integration process.

This is a full-time position offering Fortune 500-level health/dental/vision, PTO, 401k, and Life Insurance.

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week. When feasible, work will be performed during administrative business hours (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM). The CCU Project aims to enhance network infrastructure to create dynamic and engaging learning environments. As education evolves with online, remote, and blended learning, the demand for network upgrades increases. Initiatives like computer-based testing, the rise in mobile devices, and the one-to-one student-computer ratio require a robust infrastructure to support them.

Technological tools such as virtual classrooms, online learning platforms, and parent engagement apps are essential to achieving the Chancellor’s goals of Equity and Excellence, ensuring all students, parents, and teachers have equal access to education.

    Required Qualifications:

+ Certification: Server+, MCSE, or Expert Knowledge in RedHat Linux.

+ 7+ years of experience with server upgrades (Windows OS, hardware installation, configuration, troubleshooting).

+ 7+ years of experience with TCP/IP server/client communication, DHCP, DNS, and WINS.

+ 3+ years of experience with scripting tools (PowerShell, Python) for system administration.

+ 7+ years of experience with Virtual Machine installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

+ 3+ years of experience with server hardware troubleshooting.

+ 3+ years of experience with network support and LAN troubleshooting.

+ 3+ years of experience using system management software for monitoring and managing system performance.

+ Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical issues to non-technical audiences.

    + Detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven.

    Job Duties:

+ Server Configuration & Management: Configure two Windows 2019/2022 Core physical servers and five virtual servers (3 Windows VMs, 2 Linux VMs) per site to support various DOE infrastructure teams.

+ Networking Support: Configure Remote Access Card, Active Directory, and DNS records, and troubleshoot network services like DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, SNMP, TCP/IP, and WINS.

+ Scripting & Automation: Develop, maintain, and upgrade PowerShell and other automation scripts for system management and server integration.

+ Hardware & Software Troubleshooting: Resolve hardware and software issues during and after server integration and assist with server hardware testing.

+ Documentation & Reporting: Document all work related to server integration and submit weekly deployment logs and summary reports to management.

+ End-User & Vendor Support: Interact with DOE end-users and vendors to resolve logistical issues, provide on-site or remote assistance, and support service requests via CSM.
