Field Project Manager (FPM) – Onsite (New York City, NY)

KeenLogic is seeking to hire a Field Project Manager (FPM) to support the Department of Education’s Classroom Connectivity Universal (CCU) Project. The Field Project Manager (FPM) will oversee day-to-day activities to support the Classroom Connectivity Universal (CCU) Project, a comprehensive network upgrade/refresh initiative across DOE sites. The FPM will manage the integration and installation of network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless systems.

This is a full-time position offering Fortune 500-level health/dental/vision, PTO, 401k, and Life Insurance. FPMs are expected to travel to school locations across the five boroughs and maintain flexibility for after-school hours and occasional off-hour work.

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week. When feasible, work will be performed during administrative business hours (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM). However, site integrations typically take place after school hours from 2:30 PM onwards, and the candidate will be required to provide after-hours technical support.

Equipment: Candidates must have their own laptop and cellphone. DOE does not provide equipment.

    Background and Purpose:

The DOE serves over 900,000 students annually, enabling educational success through technology, hardware, software, and telecommunications. The Division of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT) is dedicated to supporting equity and excellence with minimal disruptions, ensuring that staff and students have access to the technology and resources necessary for high-quality education.

The CCU Project aims to enhance network infrastructure to create dynamic and engaging learning environments. As education evolves with online, remote, and blended learning, the demand for network upgrades increases. Initiatives like computer-based testing, the rise in mobile devices, and the one-to-one student-computer ratio require a robust infrastructure to support them.

Technological tools such as virtual classrooms, online learning platforms, and parent engagement apps are essential to achieving the Chancellor’s goals of Equity and Excellence, ensuring all students, parents, and teachers have equal access to education.

    Required Qualifications:

+ 6+ years of project management experience in the data networking industry

+ 6+ years of onsite field project management in network infrastructure installation and deployment

+ 5+ years of customer service experience in client-facing roles

+ 6+ years of experience documenting project deliverables

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio)

+ Strong oral and written communication skills

+ Detail-oriented with a focus on process and quality

+ Daily availability for onsite travel across the five boroughs of NYC

    Job Duties:

+ Project Oversight: Manage the integration of network and cabling infrastructure at assigned DOE sites.

+ Vendor Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for field vendors, ensuring project goals and timelines are met.

+ Site Coordination: Conduct site surveys with DOE and integration vendors, gather requirements, and ensure the site refresh meets DOE standards.

+ Documentation: Maintain thorough records, including site surveys, Bills of Material (BOM), requirement validation, and risk/issues logs. Ensure timely updates on project status and resolutions to the DOE Program Manager.

+ Collaboration: Act as the liaison between the DOE, schools, and vendors for the network integration process.

+ Site Meetings: Coordinate and manage external on-site meetings with vendors and school personnel, ensuring smooth project execution.

+ Project Repository Management: Maintain and update the central repository for all CCU project documents.

+ Compliance: Ensure compliance with DOE fiscal and capital requirements through accurate project documentation and timely updates.

    IT Project Management Responsibilities:

+ Lead and manage IT projects ensuring timely, budget-compliant delivery that aligns with NYC DOE goals.

+ Oversee requirements assessments, develop floor plans, and create detailed work plans for each site.

+ Coordinate with school custodians and vendors to ensure smooth cable (copper and fiber) installation.

+ Ensure safe working conditions, including checking for AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) hazards.

+ Review and authorize permits and oversee all physical work schedules.

+ Maintain inventory records for new and old equipment, ensuring proper documentation of materials and parts used.

+ Manage acceptance procedures and coordinate with integrators and cable vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

+ Share updates and critical information with school site leaders before, during, and after implementation.

+ Review and manage punch lists, obtaining sign-offs from school leadership once the project is complete.
