    ARS is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) with experience in modeling and simulation (M&S) using AFSIM (Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling). The successful candidate will support the development, analysis, and refinement of complex system-of-systems architectures for defense and aerospace applications. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to inform capability development, assess operational effectiveness, and guide system requirements using digital engineering tools and simulation frameworks.

    Responsibilities include:

    + Develop, maintain, and execute simulations and scenarios within AFSIM to assess system performance, mission effectiveness, and operational concepts.

    + Integrate MBSE methodologies and tools (e.g., SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw) to model system architectures and behaviors.

    + Translate system requirements and design concepts into simulation-based representations.

    + Analyze simulation results to support trade studies, gap analyses, and requirements validation.

    + Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to enhance simulation fidelity and realism.

    + Create technical documentation, reports, and briefings to communicate findings and support decision-making.

    + Support development of test cases and use cases within the MBSE framework to align with stakeholder objectives.

    + Participate in system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and integrated product teams (IPTs).

    + Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

    + Must be a US citizen

    + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.

    + Must have an active SECRET clearance

    + 2+ years of experience with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw) and methodologies.

    + Hands-on experience with AFSIM scenario development, scripting (Lua or similar), and model integration.

    + Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle and digital engineering principles.

    + Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting simulation outputs.

    + Experience with additional M&S tools such as STK, MATLAB, Simulink, or similar.

    + Experience in developing, managing, and utilizing ontologies to structure and organize complex data for enhanced semantic understanding and interoperability.

    + Familiarity with DoD architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF) and acquisition processes.

    + Experience supporting Air Force or other DoD programs.

    + Knowledge of software development practices and version control tools (e.g., Git).

    + Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
