    Description

    We are seeking a motivated Junior Cloud Security Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. This role focuses on supporting the security operations of our cloud-based infrastructure in AWS. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing and maintaining security measures, monitoring systems, and responding to incidents under the guidance of senior team members.

     

    100% REMOTE, 1-year contract, with potential for permanent rollover hire. (Full-time hours from day 1)

    Key Responsibilities

    + Assist in configuring and managing security tools and policies for AWS environments.

    + Monitor cloud platforms for security alerts, vulnerabilities, and potential threats using tools like AWS GuardDuty, Azure Security Center and GCP Security Command Center.

    + Support the implementation of access controls, identity management, and authentication protocols (e.g., IAM roles, Azure AD, GCP IAM).

    + Participate in incident response activities, including analyzing and mitigating security incidents.

    + Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address vulnerabilities.

    + Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to ensure secure configurations for cloud resources and applications.

    + Assist in maintaining compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2) and internal security policies.

    + Document security procedures, configurations, and incident reports.

    + Stay updated on emerging cloud security trends, threats, and best practices.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

    + 1-2+ years of experience in IT or cybersecurity (internships or relevant coursework acceptable).

    + Basic understanding/experience with AWS cloud platform.

    + Familiarity with security concepts such as encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection, and access management.

    + Hands-on experience with at least one cloud provider’s security tools (e.g., Azure Security Center, AWS GuardDuty, GCP Security Command Center) is a plus.

    + Knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs).

    + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    + Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.

    + Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security, CompTIA Security+ - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate) are a plus but not required.

     

    Additional Preferred Skills

     

    + Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for automating security tasks.

    + Understanding of DevSecOps principles and tools like Terraform or Ansible.

    + Exposure to SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Azure Sentinel) for log analysis.

    + Awareness of compliance frameworks and their application in cloud environments.
