Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Accounting Manager to oversee partner commission programs and ensure compliance with accounting standards and contractual obligations. This remote role involves managing a team, optimizing systems and processes, and driving accurate reporting and analytics. As this is a long-term contract position, it offers stability while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The position is based in Seattle, Washington.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and mentor a team responsible for partner commission calculations and accounting processes.
• Oversee the accurate calculation, validation, and reporting of partner commissions in line with contractual requirements.
• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors on commission-related matters and ensure compliance with internal policies and standards.
• Manage the month-end close process for commission-related accounts, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to operationalize new partner agreements and implement accurate commission structures.
• Enhance and maintain internal controls related to commission accounting and reporting procedures.
• Drive process improvements and automation efforts for commission systems using tools such as Xactly and CaptivateIQ.
• Develop dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor commission trends and support executive decision-making.
• Partner with IT and finance teams to integrate systems and ensure seamless data workflows.
• Review new contracts and modifications to ensure proper accounting treatment and operational execution.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a management role.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
• Experience with partner or sales commission processes, preferably in a SaaS or technology company.
• Proficiency in systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, and commission tools like Xactly.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and meet deadlines in a high-growth environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance and public company reporting requirements.
