    Summary

    Works with medication management specialists in the Centralized Refill in basket to assist patients with medication management, refills, education, and other duties as assigned. Identifies and clarifies patient medication needs; conducts medication education; promotes patient advocacy and self-efficacy; and assumes leadership initiative.

     

    Accepts telephone calls from patients requesting medication refills. Works the in basket to complete electronic medication refill requests. Identifies process improvement areas and generates resolutions. Serves as a preceptor for new coworkers and established coworkers as needed. Works closely with department leaders and physician leaders to continuously review Standard Operating Procedures and Policies. Assists with department expansion and presentation of services. Engages in collaborative discussions with peers and leaders. Performs quality call and chart audits for peer staff. Maintains resources, files, and tools with updated information. Splits time between incoming calls, SureScripts and MyChart requests, and completing lead tasks.

    Education

    High school graduate or equivalent GED required. Successful completion of an Indiana Board of Pharmacy approved Pharmacy Technician Training program.

     

    Licensure/Certification

     

    Must have an Indiana Board of Pharmacy Tech license or a current State Board of Indiana license as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern.

    Experience

    Minimum of five years pharmacy experience (retail work preferred or Institutional Pharmacy work) required. Experience in use of computers – hardware and software, and use of an electronic medical record. Microsoft Office Suite experience.

    Other Qualifications

    Superior verbal communication skills are essential. Analytical skills to identify, research, and evaluate process improvement. Must demonstrate the ability to train and precept others. Ability to remain calm in high stress situations. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of workflows and standard operating procedures and process improvement focused. Typing and computer ability to keep track of information gathered during the telephone conversation.
