We are currently looking for an experienced and collaborative Cost Controls Professional who thrives in a synchronized team environment, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This unique opportunity is remote, hybrid, or at a client site in Houston, reporting directly to the Program Manager and the client. Your primary responsibility will involve managing project costs in alignment with program objectives. You will provide cost control support and resolve complex cost-related issues, disputes, and disagreements.
As a key member of our program support team, you will assist the Program Manager and project teams with forecasting, change management, cost management, project budget analysis, earned value measurement tracking, risk management, proposal review, cash flow management, and reporting tools.
As a Cost Controls Professional, you will play a vital role in these collaborations, contributing to our impactful mission.
Your impact
* Review and understand the project contract, administering project controls that comply with contract requirements.
* Implement and execute effective controls to proactively support, monitor, and communicate budget statuses, actual costs, and forecasts for projects.
* Support the development of accurate and timely project cost forecasts in collaboration with lead staff and project management. These forecasts should be valued and utilized by the project team to enhance overall project management.
* Develop and issue timely cost reports, preparing cost analysis narratives that include recommendations for corrective actions used by the project team.
* Create and distribute status reports for clients and internal teams, effectively communicating cost statuses and trends.
* Review and recommend the approval of pay applications and invoices from contractors, architects, and consultants, ensuring billing accuracy from both accounting and project completion perspectives.
* Manage and oversee procedures for cost control and information systems.
* Ensure the accuracy of program and project contingencies, allowances, and remaining amounts for reporting to clients and the project team.
* Process contract change orders and invoice payments within client systems.
* Complete audit reporting from vendors and customers.
* Update weekly and monthly project reports using inputs from project staff and clients.
* Coordinate with contractors regarding cost-loaded schedules and cash flow forecasts.
* Review contractor proposals for compliance with contract requirements related to cost, fees, allowances, and allowable markups.

* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
* 3+ years of relevant work experience.
* Excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of technical terminology.
* A willingness to learn about program and project cost tracking practices.
* Strong writing skills.
* Understanding of the relationships between estimating, planning/scheduling, cost control, and risk management functions.
* Proficient working knowledge of MS Excel.
* Ability to identify potential issues and elevate them to the appropriate management levels.
Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:
* Experience with a Project Management Control System.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Project.
* Ability to develop cost and management presentations in graphical, written, and verbal formats.
