    Our rapidly expanding Lilly Genetic Medicines (LGM) in Indianapolis is seeking to grow our in vivo pharmacology capabilities. Our team works cross-functionally with multiple therapeutic modalities and the ideal candidate for this position will help support efforts in diverse genetic medicines and targets. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of durable genetic medicines to patients. This position will be based in Indianapolis, IN and located at Lilly Corporate Center.

     

    The Associate Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology, will participate and contribute to the in-vivo pharmacology lab, to support the discovery and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates for genetic medicines.

    Overall Responsibilities** **:

    + Work with project team leads to design and plan in vivo experiments to support the preclinical characterization and evaluation of novel therapeutic molecules.

    + In vivo skills in rodents: animal handling, dosing (ICV, IV, IM, SC, IP, etc), brain microdissection and organ harvest, transcardial perfusion, blood and CSF collection.

    + Analyze and interpret experimental data, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility.

    + Maintain documentation practices that align with both local and regulatory guidelines.

    + Accurate recording of all practical work: completion of electronic notebook to Lilly procedure quality standards

    + General laboratory assistance, including ordering and receiving lab supplies, preparing reagents, and maintaining laboratory equipment

    + Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations

    + Communicate research results in a clear and concise manner to team members and larger cross-functional teams in both reports and data presentation formats.

    + Collaborate with team members to develop and evolve understanding of RNA-based therapeutic strategies.

    + Stay current with the latest advancements in RNA biology and pharmacology.

    + Demonstrate high learning agility to incorporate new scientific concepts and methods into research.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or related scientific fields with 1+ years of relevant in vivo work experience (academic or industry)

    Additional Skills/Preferences:

    + Strong background in biology, with a preference for RNA biology

    + Expert in vivo skills including rodent handling, dosing (IV, SC, IP, , etc.)

    + Experience conducting RNA extraction from tissues and RT-qPCR is strongly preferred

    + Candidates with experience doing microdissection or surgery, or stereotaxic surgery are preferred

    + Prior experience in macromolecule distribution and metabolism

    + Experience with ex-vivo assays is a plus such as ELISAs, WB, qPCR and histology techniques

    + Experience introducing exogenous genes in rodents via AAV or HDI is a plus.

    + Experience with RNA therapeutics and pre-clinical drug pharmacology

    + Experience isolating primary cells from tissues is a plus

    + Proven track record of scientific publications

    + Strong analytical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to articulate issues, and extract and synthesize complex issues into a key focus

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proven record to collaborate and network across a wide variety of functions and work effectively with internal and external partners

    + Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, maintain detailed documentation, and prioritize work on multiple projects

    Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

     

    $63,000 - $162,800

     

    Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
