    SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER, Contract to Hire

    CCIE PREFERRED

    Woodlawn, MD - Hybrid, 3 days a week onsite

    US Citizen or Permanent Resident with eligibility for a Public Trust clearance

    Hourly Pay Rate: $85/hr. range W2, Benefits available

     

    ALTA IT Services is seeking a Senior Level Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodlawn, MD. This position requires candidates who are US citizens or Legal Permanent Residents and who are eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

     

    The qualified applicant will become part of our client’s Health Systems Management operating unit, which focuses on Healthcare IT solutions for Federal, State, and Local government clients. The qualified candidate should also have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with keen attention to detail.

     

    + Network Engineers will report to Project Managers and Service Delivery Managers.

    + Surveys network requirements of remote field offices (approx.1950 sites) and campus buildings. Define network/wireless LAN (WLAN) equipment, cables, adapters, and configurations needed to upgrade buildings and sites to an established standard.

    + Leading the rollout initiative of the WLAN solution to the remote field offices nationwide. Responsible for the design improvement, operation, and maintenance of the Network Admission Control (NAC) system for use on WLAN and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) access.

    + Analyze current network configurations and determine implementation requirements.

    + Negotiate installation date/time with customer and engage field installation contractors. Assemble the required equipment, cables, adapters, etc., and arrange delivery to the site for installation.

    + Prepare network equipment for deployment by loading appropriate software and configuration settings according to pre-engineered design templates.

    + Plan, prepare, and execute site survey for WLAN/NAC implementation.

    + Assemble required equipment, cables, adapters, etc., and arrange delivery to the site for installation.

    + Upgrade the configuration of existing network equipment to support new features and functions.

    + Manage field installation contractors while they are on-site and provide all technical details to complete site surveys and installations.

    + Continually review customers’ network and practices, looking for opportunities to enhance network functionality,

    + performance and reliability.

    + Assist in the evaluation of potential network products or technical solutions. Test LAN/WAN/WLAN/NAC equipment software (i.e.: IOS, CatOS).

    + Contribute to the development of network documentation, including diagrams, standards, specifications, and operating procedures.

    + Monitor for opportunities to enhance the customer’s network/system performance or reliability.

    + Monitor for opportunities to improve the customer service delivery practices.

    + Perform on-going management of network installation and upgrade projects. Maintain deployment schedules. Provide guidance to team members. Provide status metrics to the Government customer and corporate management.

    + Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems. Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.

    + Maintain and extend expertise in applicable areas of network and computer hardware and software technology.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities needed.

     

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or related field and 12 years of relevant work experience; OR Master’s Degree and 10 years of relevant work experience; OR 7 years with a PhD.

    + 5 years of experience in networking engineering in a large enterprise network with over 3,000 network nodes.

    + Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) level with specialization in Routing & Switching, wireless, security, or data center, or equivalent certification level.

    + 3 years of experience working with AWS network connectivity for a large enterprise

    + Must be able to obtain and maintain a Position of Public Trust clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration.

     

    + 5 years of experience with Wide Area Network technologies including MPLS, DMVPN, Frame Relay.

    + 5 years of experience with Local Area Network technologies such as Ethernet, wireless LAN, as well as the physical media and equipment associated with each.

    + 5 years of experience with Network Admission Control (NAC) in combination with Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) for Wireless and Wired networks.

    + Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and learn skills necessary to complete the job.

    + Mature, self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work well in a group environment.

    + Ability to develop and execute detailed written plans for tasks and projects.

    + Experience in conducting analysis and documenting use cases and detailed requirements.

    + One CCIE Certification or more of the following, but CISSP/or PCNSE and/or ITIL would be a plus.

    US Citizen or Permanent Resident with eligibility for a Public Trust clearance
