Position Overview:We are looking to hire a Full-Time Junior Research Scientist to support the Joint Intermediate Force Capabilities Office (JIFCO) by providing technical and research management support for physical, biological, and behavioral scientific and technology development activities related to non-lethal weapons (NLW) effects—including non-lethal human effects (HE). The Junior Research Scientist must be able to communicate complex concepts to a wide range of audiences and conduct day-to-day administrative tasks and other activities associated with the normal operation of the JIFCO Applied Research and Technology Development (ARTD) team. The Junior Research Scientist will resolve difficult technical and NLW human effects problems and issues, as well as plan, design, monitor, and evaluate complex NLW effects and effectiveness programs and projects.

Position Responsibilities:
+ Develop technical reports and documents that address current and historical technology development, programmatic, regulatory, and treaty compliance data calls pertaining to NLWs including HE information for JIFCO Staff, PMs, Services Representatives, and OSD.
+ Develop and document new applied research plans and update existing research plans that are scientifically valid and hypothesis-driven.
+ Review project deliverables and coordinate the routing of the deliverables for review, approval, and markings, and ensure they are archived into Government technical report repositories.
+ Prepare research-specific scientific briefings for public and Government venues. Briefing preparation will involve creation of new briefing content or assembling existing content from multiple sources using existing briefings content to the maximum extent possible.
+ Develop information papers documenting quick-look research findings and recommendations on a variety of non-lethal weapons topics, to include human effects, related to NLW research.
+ Prepare project financial phasing plans.
+ Prepare annual program review briefings.
+ Coordinate attendance for the Human Effects Review Board (HERB) meeting and capture and distribute HERB agendas and meeting minutes for the HERB meeting event.
+ Collect and review project monthly status reports and maintain up-to-date project management data in tracking tools.
+ Develop and distribute meeting agendas, collect and track meeting briefings and read-ahead materials, and compile and distribute read-ahead content via electronic means to meeting attendees for JIFCO led technical meeting, and develop and distribute meeting minutes or summaries from each event.
+ Draft trip reports
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological, or behavioral field/science, Master’s degree or higher preferred.
+ One year or more experience conducting original scientific research (including while obtaining a scientific degree).
+ Active Secret Clearance eligible.
+ Ability to work on-site at the JIFCO HQ in Quantico, VA.
+ Ability to travel up to 25%.
